An evening wander around the village, spotted a common noctule bat, several common pipistrelles and a couple of soprano pipistrelles. The last few evenings it has just been the ducks keeping me company. #Cranborne@CranborneEstate@LandscapeTrust

to apply for a Cranborne allotment.
Not sufficient time to commit to an allotment? Then why not help with our community orchard. Helping to produce fruit for the village. If interested email the above address.
Little things can make a big difference. Thank you to @CranborneEstate! Shiny new tap means the old leaky one creating low water pressure for village #allotments has been replaced. If a Cranborne resident & you want to go on the waiting list for a plot for the Autumn do message.
Interesting to see this restoration @Blacky_Himself , are there ever environmental factors or benefits for leaving historical weirs and races in tact? Interested as the Crane has significant features next to a historical animal feed mill site near Cranborne.
Weir removal and #ChalkStream#RiverRestoration 8 months on.
Some very hard graft went into this river’s mid-recovery adjustments. A great @WessexRivers Habitats Team effort, and an ecosystem now on its way to a thriving future 🌱💧🐟
An excellent evening with the team from @CranborneEstate learning about their regenerative farming practices. Starting & finishing in the Sheaf of Arrows, a super community event thank you to all involved. Looking forward to another tour in the autumn based around forestry.
So good see @IoloWilliams2@BBCSpringwatch showcasing the jewel in our crown: MartinDownNNR & talking about our Supercluster & some of the successes we've had on MartinDownFarmerCluster (1/3 supercluster)tonight. Thank you!
Farming and nature can go hand in hand @Gameandwildlife
Good to see new legislation starting to go through parliament ensuring a 2m buffer strip from the centre of agricultural hedgerows is not sprayed or ploughed.
Legislation to protect hedgerows has been laid in both Houses of Parliament today.
If approved it will put baseline hedgerow management practices into law, providing a consistent approach across all people operating on agricultural land.

Interesting blog post discusses need for increase in tree cover. Our new community orchard as part of @CranborneEstate agroforestry project combines agricultural crops & rows of trees, illustrates how land use may have multiple benefits whilst still increasing tree cover.
Trees are vital for climate, nature and people. 🌳
Our CEO @MarianSpain joined @ForestryComm’s CEO Richard Stanford, at @CranborneEstate to see best practice in #woodland management and discuss how collaboration can create multi-functional woodland.

@MDSuperCluster@OwlBoxInit Strange how some nights like last night there was no sign of them at all where as the previous night with seemingly similar weather they were exceedingly active? What are the main factors that influence their sorties?
Happy Easter, our first fruit tree has burst into leaf, (an early plum). Notice the cattle grazing in the back ground. As soon as it is dry enough, the field between the Agro Forestry strips will be drilled with spring barley. To be harvested in 5 months time.
Spring’s sprung? Hedgerows of blossom.
The Grove is now fully planted thanks to 3 generations of Brights gapping up with a Matravers (cider apple).
Thanks too to the @CranborneEstate farm staff fitting the tree guards. Do take care as they do have sharp barbs on when visiting.
