KENAPA BELAJAR SIFAT 20?

Allah SWT memiliki nama-nama dan sifat-sifat yang sempurna dan bilangannya adalah banyak. Namun, kenapa umat Islam belajar 20 sifat Allah SWT sahaja?

𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐦𝐚, sifat-sifat kesempurnaan bagi Allah SWT tiada batasannya. Jumlah 20 sifat tersebut bukanlah bermaksud sifat Allah SWT hanya terhad kepada bilangan 20 sahaja. Ini kerana, dalam kitab Umm al-Barahin yang menjadi antara rujukan utama bagi huraian Sifat 20 ini didapati Imam al-Sanusi berkata: "Maka, sebahagian daripada apa yang wajib bagi Tuhan kita adalah 20 Sifat."

Ayat asal 'sebahagian' menunjukkan sifat-sifat wajib bagi Allah SWT melebihi 20 sifat. Jadi, sejak awal lagi ulama tidak mengehadkan bilangan 20 sahaja. Menurut Sheikh al-Buti, Allah menyifatkan diri-Nya dengan sifat yang banyak tetapi perincian semua sifat tersebut terkandung dalam 20 sifat utama ('ishrin sifah ra'isiyyah). Ini memudahkan orang awam untuk mengenali Allah SWT menerusi beberapa sifat terpilih berbanding mengenali-Nya menerusi semua sifat-sifat yang terkandung dalam al-Quran dan hadis yang jumlahnya sangat banyak.
