Keep N mind, they operated on Batman because he had 3 bullets N him & never took off the costume. The story N question? "The Case of the Honest Crook!" from Batman #5 (March 1941). Batman threatens a doctor w/strangulation if he doesn't help Robin. Code against killing, my @$$!
From Batman #241 The Kane/Finger reprint provided some entertainment reinforcing why Batman having a teen sidekick's insane. Batman leaves a swathe of ass-kickings, beats a confession out of a guy, threatens 2 kill a doctor, acts like a sissy, & stays @ a hospital N full costume.
I think I'm 14 issues into my biggest #Batman run (consecutive issues)... That's counting the reprints issue that I didn't post. Only 30 + years to go! #Comicbooks And I think I/m finally getting out of the 'giant size' era where they include all of the reprints.
Batman #241 Fantastic (& surprisingly simple) cover by #NealAdams & #BerniWrightson but the stories in this one are all pretty good, even the reprint of Batman #5 by Kane & Finger. Denny O'Neil writes maybe the best story he's written so far in this run featuring Colonel Sulfur.
Batman #240 Ra's Al Ghul is a sick bastard. In this one Batman's trying to find out who took a man's brain. When Talia pops up we all know who's behind it. Denny O'Neil puts the idea of being a disembodied brain N2 the minds of all the kids... And me. Not pleasant. #comicbooks
Batman #239 #Christmas Issue! #NealAdams The 1st story by O'Neil, Novick, & Giordano tells a tale where a man has a change of heart. I didn't care 4 the backup stories 2 much (1 is a reprint from Batman #15). Friedrich's contribution needed a heavier editor's hand. #comicbooks
Batman #237 Best Bat-book I've read in a long time. Essentially it's "B careful N the pursuit of monsters you, yourself, do not become 1." Loved the art & all the Marvel cameos as well as the creatives' appearances. I recognized Berni Wrightson immediately. #comicbooks#NealAdams
Batman #236 Batman's haunted by a ghost... or is it his subconscious? He breaks the 4th wall & gives U the choice. This also ends the 3 part Robin solo story where hippies, normal folks, & police learn we all need 2 learn 2 live together. #comicbooks & Irv Novick was underrated.
Batman #235 Batman has to find Talia, Ra's Al Ghul's daughter, 2 stop her from killing a plague carrier (& 2 save her). The cover isn't instantly recognizable as Neal Adams, but Dick Giordano continues 2 put his stamp on the art. Irv Novick does the interiors & does a solid job.
Batman #234 (1971) The Silver Age debut of #TwoFace, who had not appeared since 1954. #NealAdams (along with Giordano) propels Batman into the modern age. Irv Novick pencils 1 of the backup stories (w/Giordano). It's a simple story, but Adams makes it worthwhile. #comicbooks
Batman #233 was hard 2 get thru. Sure, it has that enticing Giordano cover, but, the interior's nothin' but reprints from 1952 -1957. Apparently Jim Mooney did all of the art. I did kind of like the last story w/Batwoman & the Collector. The final panel is pure 50s cheese.
#GreenHeron with its neck extended. I took this at the end of my bike trail. He gave me about a 3 second window before he took off. #NorthwestFloridaBirds
