@syerraf17@CaltransDist3@nevadadot@PlacerCA@NevadaCountyCA@CHP_Truckee@CHPAuburn I think school to hire programs are a great way to get someone into the industry that doesn’t have $6000 to invest in school but I also am more for smaller companies. My Dad drives and is home almost daily. If he lays over he’s home the next day and he makes more than me 😅
@syerraf17@CaltransDist3@nevadadot@PlacerCA@NevadaCountyCA@CHP_Truckee@CHPAuburn Yeah I get layover pay at least. I mostly run west coast + Arizona. Based out of Idaho. Home every week for at least my 34 but usually two days off. I’m in contract with England until September (I did the school to hire program) but I appreciate the offer!
@syerraf17@CaltransDist3@nevadadot@PlacerCA@NevadaCountyCA@CHP_Truckee@CHPAuburn I work for CR England. This week was off to a bad start as my load was 8 hours late and my driver manager was on vacation. I didn’t get out until Sunday. Some managers in the company have their drivers turn around. I think the fill in thought it was going to open up sooner…
@syerraf17@CaltransDist3@nevadadot@PlacerCA@NevadaCountyCA@CHP_Truckee@CHPAuburn If I were my own boss I wouldn’t have made the run knowing the weather was going to be bad. But since I’m beholden to the company I drive for, I had to run the load and shut down when the interstate closed. Was hoping my dispatch would have told me to come back but no such luck
@syerraf17@CaltransDist3@nevadadot@PlacerCA@NevadaCountyCA@CHP_Truckee@CHPAuburn This blizzard was forecasted as early as Saturday. Maybe even sooner. Part of trip planning is checking the forecast. Believe me I’ve been sitting since Sunday afternoon and all I want is to go home. I still have to deliver in California before I can do that and not get home time
@syerraf17@CaltransDist3@nevadadot@PlacerCA@NevadaCountyCA@CHP_Truckee@CHPAuburn Truckers choose this lifestyle. If you’re consistently on the road and don’t have a contact at home to help take care of your animals when these situations arise then that’s your fault for not being prepared. Having to wait sucks but it’s not worth risking your life to save time
@CaltransDist3@nevadadot@PlacerCA@NevadaCountyCA@CHP_Truckee@CHPAuburn God bless everybody working hard to get these roads cleaned up. I know us truckers are chomping at the bit to get over the pass but I’m sure most of us appreciate y’all making sure the roads are safe for everybody. Thanks for the update!
@elkurud@ElijahSchaffer Companies legally cannot allow you to work off the clock. Anybody who works for free is playing themselves and are a liability to the company
