@kyshrizla Always seen it as PEDMAS not PEMDAS (I'm from UK so used BEDMAS or BODMAS) , but typically you go left to right as a general rule so you'd get 16. Either way doesn't matter because the real issue is that ÷ sign. Simple 1 step equations its fine, elsewhere it's just confusing.

=8÷2(4)
=8÷8
=1

OR

8÷2(2+2)
=4(2+2)
=4(4)
=16

@PicturesFoIder Both are equally right and wrong. Never use the ÷ symbol as it just creates confusion. As multiplication and division are considered equal in the order of operation so depending on which people do first, they'll get 16 or 1. The only correct answer is to get mad at people using ÷

In this scenario, brackets around the 5×5 would have no effect as multiplication comes before addition anyway. Brackets instead show that something should be done first so if it were (5+5)×(5+5) you'd do the addition first.
