@withba9ge@iara2ma2@basketball47783@Wolvesmuse Her biggest value as playmaker would be as backup off the bench which is what Cheryl Reeve said she drafted her for because she said on draft night that Court would keep her starting PG role. Liv lucky Court was an unselfish vet and let her have it vs AZ having to fight to start
@withba9ge@iara2ma2@basketball47783@Wolvesmuse Paige and Jess both avg as many ast as Liv with less efficient teammates. Only 1 ball, so its just redundancy. Their biggest need is defense. Liv vs AZ reduces that and shrinks floor with less 3pt scoring threat. Takes Paige offball. Liv ast go down with less efficient scorers.
@withba9ge@iara2ma2@basketball47783@Wolvesmuse Azzi gets to the rim plenty, and would probably even more...but like Curry, she doesnt get a whistle. Her core strength and ability to follow through shots, and her not flopping like other notable players, the refs ignore clear fouls. So there's no benefit in her going to the rim
@withba9ge@iara2ma2@basketball47783@Wolvesmuse AZ has always been highly efficient her entire career and hovered around 50/40/90, but its always been nobody cares, and they only care about scoring when others score more. So, no I dont hold her lower efficiency against her this time. Especially when she was efficient 2H.
@withba9ge@iara2ma2@basketball47783@Wolvesmuse Actually, I highly value efficiency, just not hypocricy. I normally dont even comment, but was triggered by media jumping on the bias. When Liv, Flau, others are inefficient, they never post their FGA. They dont care because they claim they helped team try to win.
@withba9ge@iara2ma2@mndude99@basketball47783@Wolvesmuse As for impact, AZ playing the most min lately because defense collapses without her on the floor. Replace her with Miles, they lose a lot more games. Who is playing defense when you remove Azzi from the team? Add Azzi to Lynx and they win more games with additional defense.
@withba9ge@mndude99@basketball47783@Wolvesmuse It does matter if you're trying to bring up efficiency. And Liv scored almost half her points at the charity stripe. She only scored 13 pts through true FG. So, she didnt do anything harder. If she had scored 21pts through FG than yes, I'd prop her up.
@withba9ge@mndude99@basketball47783@Wolvesmuse Bringing up efficiency without including ALL efficiency stats, invalidates everything you said. Common sense taking double the 3PA will likely result in less FGM/FGA than taking all layups. That's not rocket science.
@withba9ge@iara2ma2@mndude99@basketball47783@Wolvesmuse The non-playmaker had 3 ast and caused the playmaker 5 TO by disrupting their playmaking and PnR, and stole the ball from them 4 times. Basic knowledge, if you understand basketball it's offense AND DEFENSE. ONLY 1 of them impacted BOTH ENDS, and played a COMPLETE 2-WAY game.
@withba9ge@mndude99@basketball47783@Wolvesmuse This is exactly what I said above. Selective reading. Nobody trying hard to prove anything other than dispelling what was said above that Liv balled out and AZ only had a small run. If feel Liv should've been #1, thats fine, but THIS game didnt prove that when 1 on 1 AZ outplayed
@withba9ge@mndude99@basketball47783@Wolvesmuse AZ held Liv to 2-10 shooting while guarding her. Had 4 steals and 1 block directly against her. Liv had 5 TO vs 2. Only 13 pts from FG vs AZ having 20 pts.
@Major_Mike@Youfullofbs@ESPNInsights Even Cheryl gave AZ her flowers and said that AZ "smacked" them in the 2nd half and that she played really well. It's okay to admit that.
@Major_Mike@Youfullofbs@ESPNInsights For what? Liv was 1-4 from 3pt. All her points were at the charity stripe and at the rim. Liv only scored 12pts on her own. AZ was also having to guard Howard because her teammates don't play defense. Like Cheryl Reeves said, the Lynx SHOULD win because they're the better TEAM.
@mndude99@basketball47783@Wolvesmuse 87 ungaurded FT, double any other rookie will do that for you. When you're the only rookie given the keys to your team and you average more FT and FG attempts than all other rookies and most other players, it's expected to accumulate more points faster.
@mndude99@basketball47783@Wolvesmuse Liv was 6-18 and 1-6 in her last game. She was 1-10 and 0-4 two games before that......way worse than Azzi ever played. So by your logic, she shouldnt be the #1 pick either. See how efficiency only matter to you when Azzi stats beat Liv in a 1 to 1?
@mndude99@basketball47783@Wolvesmuse AZ was also 4-9 from 3pt vs Liv 1-4. Include ALL the pct if you gonna include them. Shooting and making 3s is more difficult than EIGHT unguarded FT and layups.
@mndude99@basketball47783@Wolvesmuse Azzi ALSO had 21 points with only ONE unguarded FT. Didnt need to flop to get to 20. Caused FIVE turnovers for LIv with FOUR steals and ONE block against Liv. Leads ALL rookies in blocks AND steals. 5th in ENTIRE W in steals. Leads ALL guards in entire W in blocks.
