40 years ago today. Less than 30 days later, UTCM was released to theaters, including an instr. mix of “It’s A Wonderful Day”, the 3rd song from this daring double LP configuration. Bass Drum Pounds...“She just doesn't know what she wants...Don’t you know I’ll slap the waves...!”
After remembering 10 years yesterday,
not forgetting the others we lost from 2016-26:
Denise Matthews
Pepe Willie
Tyka Nelson
John Blackwell
Wally Safford
Jellybean Johnson
Cat Glover
Kim Upsher
Billy Franze
Lavonne Daugherty
Vernetta Benton
Alfred Nelson
John R Nelson

@justice4cuz@blackteach2all@prince@PaisleyPark Cool. Thanks for sharing these stories. Loved your cousin’s nod back to those years of his life in the song Musicology – “Don't you touch my stereo... don't you ever touch, these are my records!” Always wondered if that came from memories of his Dad, Omarr's Dad, (or Alfred).
@MDean Props & thanks 4 all your gr8 interviews like the long AC, Pepe, Maneca!, Laura L, Susan R, Leeds, Owen, Scottie& many more. Remember u talking about We Can Funk & girl who inspired, tho couldn't find which episode. Saw this on the org - this could be her? Timing is right.
@justice4cuz@blackteach2all My bad. When I posted about him on 4-21-23 (linked ↓), I got it right. Also quoted you sharing memories of him in a reply to that. For those of us who loved hearing your cousin talk about Alfred on wax, loved being able to see him and hear more about him. https://t.co/32XuKxsxXf
Mr. Jackson = Alfred Jackson ("We got to go, Alfred! You got any old James Brown records? ...That's a nice coat Alfred! ...Put on your boots Alfred, let's go!")
NorthStar = LM

@ginia64 Thank you for the necklace! That night, I imagined the next 10 years and estate going very differently than how they did. Hope you both are doing well and happy you’re in such a beautiful location.
I usually don't like most of these kind of projects, but caught a little of this one and to quote Movie Star, "Actually this one's not bad, check it out."
("So, you like environmental records?")
Condolences, love and prayers to @TheMorrisDay of @theoriginal7ven on the loss of his Mom, LaVonne Daugherty. As important as she was in the history of Grand Central and beyond, hard to believe this might be the first photo I've seen of her.
Must have been so special for P to have Chaka & Stevie performing this 2nd LP song with him live. So special for me seeing P play the horn line bridge on guitar. “I created a different kind of horn section by multi-tracking a synthesizer and some guitar lines” –Prince, Apr. 1978
So sorry to hear that Jellybean Johnson passed. Condolences to his fam. His live drumming on The Bird will always be dope. His legacy of music & always being approachable & cool will live on. When I first saw him playing in Mpls he played guitar & wore a Univ of Minnesota hoodie.
@SteveBennett7@minnehaha_swag Found out it's not Chris Moon, it's Roger Dumas! He programmed synthesizers for Prince from day one of P working in a pro studio. It was cool meeting Roger at his music store in Hopkins back in the day.

@Baron3121@PrinceVault Thanks 4 posting. The same doc that likes root beer? I would love to hear the REAL stories behind the sources of inspiration for songs (i.e. the woman in the dysfunctional relationship w/P in Sticky Like Glue - do u know who that is?) straight from the the SOURCE like he planned.
@robbietalkers Hi Rob! Not sure if you're still on here, but I've always loved the sound creations you worked on for Herbie's Sound System. Always wanted to know how the vocoded syllables at 3:48 on Junku were made–I've been experimenting. Would you be able to share how it was done? Thank you!
