Creative Ireland is an initiative of the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, centring culture and creativity in Irish life.
Cork County Council Library & Arts Service is delighted to reveal that ‘Global’, written by Eoin Colfer and Andrew Donkin has been selected as our 2025 ‘One County, One Book’ read for teens!
Our One County, One Book initiative is part of Teen Literature Festival and introduces young people in County Cork to Irish authors and is supported by Creative Ireland.
The programme will encourage young people to read the book and participate in programmed events in Autumn. Students from secondary schools will have the opportunity to discuss the literature with the authors, while exploring related issues.
‘Global’ is a powerful, hopeful and timely story about the real effects of climate change and immigration and is the second collaborative graphic novel from Eoin Colfer and Andrew Donkin.
Eoin Colfer is an international best-selling author from Wexford. He is best known for being the author of the Artemis Fowl series. He served as Laureate na nÓg between 2014 and 2016.
Andrew Donkin is a graphic novelist and author from London. He is the author of over eighty books and graphic novels. His books have been translated into thirty languages around the world.
There are still limited spaces remaining for secondary schools! Transition Year coordinators and teachers can contact [email protected] for more information and to express an interest in attending.
Copies of the book will be available in our branch and mobile libraries throughout Cork County.
