Just a quick update that I’m pretty much exclusively on Threads these days… please leave this place behind and come find me (@CreativeNewman) over there.
Still unsure about Mastodon, but set up a profile because it's good to have backup plans: https://t.co/YzOiV4P1AI
Now checking out https://t.co/kUD8ASQhbU to import the accounts I'm following on Twitter tha have already made the switch.
According to messages shared in Twitter Slack, Twitter’s CISO, chief privacy office, and chief compliance officer all resigned last night.
An employee says it will be up to engineers to “self-certify compliance with FTC requirements and other laws.”
@inkblurt Ooooh. Like the GTFS standard that exists for public transit (https://t.co/3Y8CVtvEbc), but for school closings... or public meetings records... or RFP announcements... I *really* want this to exist.
And, of course, if Twitter were to go away, folks like me might actually have to write and edit something more substantial to get their ideas out instead of merely tweeting out half-baked threads.
(Can’t decide if this is ‘pro’ or ‘con’, to be honest 🙃) 4/4
Been thinking a lot about what it might mean if Twitter were to go away.
For one, losing this giant repo of mostly-public content isn’t great for the health of the open web… especially if it that content goes to closed platforms. 1/
Also, if Twitter were to go away, companies might actually have to make their front line customer service less terrible instead of using social media escalations as their escape hatch to excuse otherwise bad service.
(Not holding my breath on that one) 3/
@dewbertdc @wmata@JWPascale Bonus, that looks like the same body housing as all the new fare gates they just installed throughout the system—so maybe they can retrofit a different barrier onto them after all?
Here's what Twitter said they would do for the midterms. Feels pretty impossible to accomplish without a curation team and if 8 bucks is all you need to be verified.

The fact “verified user Keanu Reeves” is still active many hours after going viral is the biggest warning sign yet that this is all going to go to hell rather quickly (which is exactly @abnerpastoll’s point).
@treygraham Close! It's a pie divider! (It scores the top to show you where to cut, and it can also be used to cut vents in pie crusts) Details: https://t.co/eYeI47IeV3
"A convoluted way to ____" describes much about the NPR member station/mothership relationship... but I'm so encouraged and excited to see this long-planned collaboration coming to fruition!
asking podcast audiences to become recurring donors to their local radio stations might seem like a convoluted way to generate revenue — but this is @npr!
