On January 15, 2009, I was in LaGuardia’s American Airlines lounge waiting on my flight back to Nashville.

I was sitting next to my friend Michael Blanton who was there with his client, Mandisa.

All flights were shut down as US Air’s Captain Sully guided his powerless aircraft into the Hudson River after multiple bird strikes took out their engines shortly after takeoff from the same airport.

For the next several hours, I got to sit there and catch up with MIchael and get to know Mandisa a little. She was a delight. She was genuine, warm, engaging, funny, generous, and a light to all who knew her.

Mandisa will certainly be missed. 💔💔
