Some cricketers dominate through swagger.
Some dominate through power.
Some dominate through personality.
Kane Williamson dominated through certainty.
For more than a decade, whenever New Zealand found itself in trouble, the answer was almost always the same: give the ball to Kane Williamson, give the captaincy to Kane Williamson, or trust Kane Williamson to find a way.
That trust wasn't built overnight.
It was built through thousands of runs, countless rescue acts and an extraordinary ability to perform when New Zealand needed him most.
Williamson finishes with more than 19,000 international runs, 33 Test centuries and six Test double centuries. Those numbers alone make him New Zealand's greatest batter.
But statistics don't fully capture what made him special.
New Zealand cricket has produced legends before. Richard Hadlee carried attacks. Stephen Fleming shaped teams. Brendon McCullum changed mindsets.
Williamson did something different.
He made New Zealand believe it belonged among cricket's elite.
Under his leadership, New Zealand reached the 2019 World Cup final, the 2021 T20 World Cup final and won the inaugural World Test Championship.
That achievement alone altered the history of New Zealand cricket.
Yet his greatest quality was consistency.
From Christchurch to Karachi.
From Wellington to Dhaka.
From green seamers to spinning tracks.
Williamson kept scoring.
When New Zealand travelled to Asia, he became the batter teammates relied upon most. When conditions became difficult, he looked calmer. When pressure increased, his technique became tighter.
Great players often have one defining peak.
Williamson had several.
His brilliance stretched from the mid-2010s into the early 2020s, surviving injuries, changing teams and evolving formats.
And he did it without ever becoming the centre of attention.
Perhaps that's why Williamson's greatness is occasionally understated.
He never chased headlines.
He simply accumulated performances.
Today, New Zealand lose more than a batter.
They lose the player who defined the most successful era in their history.
Years from now, records will be broken.
But generations of New Zealand fans will remember something else.
Whenever New Zealand needed someone to stand up, #KaneWilliamson usually did.
That is the legacy of a true great.
SRH has Klaasen
PBKS has Shreyas Iyer
RCB has Rajat Patidar
The reason these teams are out shining others consistently.
Every team has got star and clicking openers, but a solid No. 4 makes the winning IPL team this season.
Openers win you powerplays and few games, but the middle-order makes you steal 2 points, when the game is moving away from your hand. #ipl
@vikrantgupta73 It is mostly because the lack of craziness in boundary hitting like PBKS and RCb. The big overs of CSK are 18-20 runs per over. The top sides are scroing 25+ frequently. The major reason being the bunch of dot balls between boundaries.
CSK are a super batting-first team. When you have a top-5 strong and your bowlers are good enough to defend 200+ totals, you should try to bat first most times. Win a toss and bat first, suddenly the same team which made a mess of a chase twice in the last two games will suddenly look a strong side. With Dhoni in, CSK should try to rope in one or two strong finishers in the side as replacements for Khaleel and Ayush to make them look big in chases.
As mentioned, our bowler pick Kagiso Rabada delivered yesterday! 🔥
Here are our IPL Fantasy League picks for today’s #SRHvDC:
1. Heinrich Klaasen – DC’s bowling looks strong, so I don’t see Abhishek/Travis getting a big start. Klaasen’s strength vs spin & death overs makes him a top pick.
2. Lungi Ngidi – In great touch; his slower balls could be very effective in Hyderabad.
3. KL Rahul – KL Rahul loves batting in these conditions, and I don’t see any threatening names in the opposition bowling unit to challenge the DC opener.
Alternates: Eshan Malinga, Kuldeep Yadav.
@vinodh_tm@ChennaiIPL@Kettavan_Freak Player getting injured during a match cannot be prevented. I understand what happened to Khaleel could be team's fault on keeping him overloaded, but this is just unlucky.
IPL Fantasy League Best Picks #GTvMI
1️⃣ Shubman Gill: In great form and conditions suit him perfectly. (Buttler is an option only if GT bats first).
2️⃣ Quinton de Kock: Protean power! He’ll love the bounce at Narendra Modi Stadium. Historically, QdK always backs up a good knock.
3️⃣ Kagiso Rabada: Stats don't lie: 5 wickets in 2 home games here (and 2 in 3 away games). Ahmedabad suits him, and MI’s shaky middle-order adds value.
Wildcards: SKY or Rickelton could deliver, but QdK is my top choice! Your thoughts?
This team is in a great state of mind. It shows in his captain's speech too. Great state of mind in the team environment keeps the players in high confidence level and that puts them above other teams in the table.
Swag on point ✔️
Game on point ✔️
Sarpanch Saab unstoppable. 🔥
#ShreyasIyer shining on and off the field. 😎
#TATAIPL | #MIvsPBKS | [Mumbai Indians, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Punjab Kings, Deepak Chahar]
KKR's major tactical error is having Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Rahane play the same role in the lineup. They often bat together, which significantly ruins their strike rate. Should Angkrish play as a finisher? He definitely has the hitting skills.
Not just wins, but proper statements from PBKS & RCB(Yesterday)
My prediction for #IPL2026: A repeat of the 2025 final with a new 1st time title winner.
5 Players Struggling Big Time in this IPL
1. Ruturaj Gaikwad
2. Nicholas Pooran
3. Rinku Singh
4. Cameron Green
5. Tilak Varma
All these players are key performers for their side and you can see why these teams are in the second half of the points table.
KKR spinners are bowling well with good economy but they are missing out on picking middle over wickets, which will keep CSK in the game. Too defensive can be issue with the bowling too. #CSKvKKR
Chennai Super Kings
Did you see that? Bowling 140 kmph inswingers and everyone reacting like they’ve never seen it before — “What’s this new thing?!”
Tomorrow, give Khaleel a break, make him practice inswing to right-handers, and unleash Ramakrishna Ghosh! He’ll rip in 140+ kmph inswingers 🔥
Replace Noor Ahmad with Shreyas Gopal (Leggie).
If we don’t take risks now, we’ll never be able to!
Don’t worry too much about the result… Take the right measures!
We’ve got the combination. Trust the process 💛
Go well #CSK #WhistlePodu
When all teams in IPL manages to gain popularity in their own state luke CSK, RCB, and MI, this move will be sustainable. English Premier League does this on weekends because of the fan base each team has on their own state. Also the league is controlled more by the broadcaster these days. So it takes time.
@ashwinravi99 Becoming a great Test lower order batter has ruined his T20 game. Too defensive in his thoughts more than what he actually is with the bat. Tbh, he is been a burden sometimes at the death overs where he waits too long to shift gears.
