Meet Ashok Gehlot.

A multiple-time Chief Minister of Rajasthan, he received everything from the Congress party. When the party was ready to elevate him to the Congress President’s post, he chose the CM’s chair instead and allowed an open rebellion that insulted leaders sent by the party high command.

For years, he has been accused of blocking young leadership within the party. His political focus appeared centered on securing his son’s future, yet even that project failed to gain consistent electoral success.

Now he claims a conspiracy prevented him from becoming Congress President. The reality is that he himself refused to let go of the Chief Minister’s post and effectively abandoned the opportunity.

Rahul Gandhi should move such leaders to the Margdarshak Mandal. They have become liabilities rather than assets for the Congress party. After Kamal Nath, it is time for Gehlot to make way for a new generation.
