@shaunus84 In the Northants league in tier 1 captains mark umpires after each game & leave feedback.

This is great apart from umpires don’t actually get to see their marks or comments! Be much more helpful for development maybe if they did!

@shaunus84 Rightly so I think, being on a panel I don’t think there is enough of much in-season development for umpires unless you’re being assessed.

I think it’s definitely an area that could be improved upon to help reduce errors or understand why they happen.

It’s a thankless task umpiring sometimes (I do some Saturdays) but equally it doesn’t help if there’s some really bad decisions!

*Summer closure & reopening update*

We are currently closed and planning to reopen on MONDAY 29th SEPTEMBER.

Coming in JANUARY 2026 alongside the current facility there will be a further 3 lanes with full length run ups.

Ideal for bowling practice, especially pace bowlers.

Due to the poor weather not only hampering cricket fixtures and harvest for us here, we’ve decided to extend our opening date.

It’s been a busy few days here in the barn so we will now remain open until THURSDAY 24TH JULY!

*UPDATE ON SUMMER CLOSING*

After another fantastic year (thank you everyone) the barn will be closing for the summer from MONDAY 21ST JULY.

We are planning to reopen at the end of September and we’ll have some extremely exciting news of what’s to come for winter 25/26 shortly!
