We’ve got an August which includes two England test matches, a rejuvenated ODC & a new era for the Hundred. One would think it should be an exciting time to be a cricket fan, but nope, let’s all snipe & make any discussion toxic
@NakulMPande@GeorgieHeath27 I’d love to hear a ground staffs explanation of what we are seeing with the difference in how a wicket performs for the women’s game and the men’s game. Up and down the country we’ve seen similar play out.
@thechelskikid You only have an affinity to those 18 counties if you have a connection to them.
The kids at my lads cricket club do not have an affinity to those counties. But they have had the Hundred as entry level cricket to find a love of the game. That’s something I can identify with.
@durbs75 I’m flummoxed by the whole thing. We all love cricket. Why anyone would bemoan people actually going to games and growing the game amongst youngsters and different demographics is odd.
@thechelskikid There’s an argument that some people do not feel aligned to the county system. They have no affinity to an outdated system. Where as a region does…
That said, that’s one of the flaws from the Sunrisers takeover…
@thechelskikid Well, at the risk of stating the obvious. The other half of the teams. 😁
Players come and go, I like actually seeing the match ups of players who usually play alongside each other. It’s part of the festival of the comp.
You can still hold an affinity to your “home” side
@RobinAn15568985 The format itself is a red herring. It’s an elite white ball comp, which we needed. If we didn’t, someone else would have taken that window.
@PeterDellaPenna@ManchesterSG100 It’s been interesting to watch. No merch from MSG or Sunrisers. Whilst Southern Brave must have made a fortune in various tops and hats
@mitch102000 Sorry, but you’re not going to get kids en masse through the gates due to the sheer expense of getting tickets. They simply aren’t the target audience for test matches.
