The manner of win matters more than the win. Contributions all around at crucial junctures with key players playing lead roles was heartening to see. Janith's impressive knock, crucial direct hit and Kamindu's catch were stand out moments. An impressive start for KM- Kirsten era!
Tracks in the West Indies, test the temperament & skills of batters more than most. Aggression alone won't suffice. Game smartness will play a crucial role. π±π° aren't short in batting talent. Adoption has been a shortcoming. Any sign of shift in right direction would be a win
Reinvents his game, breaks the 650 run mark for two consecutive seasons after international retirement in T20s, with no room for strike rate debates.
Plays his role to perfection in two back to back title wins. Some scripts are too good to be scripted.

Murali's legacy needs no accolades for recognition. Yet, Cricinfo's crowning is perhaps a reflection of Murali's unimaginable brilliance not only in Tests but ODIs too which gets lost in the Warne- Murali debate. 534 to top 800 makes Murali the greatest all format bowlel by far!!
SL- WI ODIs in the caribbean have been scarce & mostly uneventful. Upul Chandana's 89 (71) at Bridgetown in 2003 steering π±π° to an improbable 313 chase, leading to our first ever ODI series win in the Calypso land remains my favorite. Against all odds, support cast played hero!
Pace bowling all rounders will be a premium commodity for the CWC 2027. How Milan Ratnayake, who having rightfully earned his place would fare, shape up & evolve in the upcoming months is a crucial development to keep track of in SL cricket. Janith's trajectory would be another!
If these two knocks from Sooryavanshi in the #ipl_2026 play offs get any less weightage in the IPL folklore years down the line, merely because of not crossing the century mark, it could go down as one of the most unjust travesty of modern cricket. Numbers won't tell the tale!
Alright, I get it...
May be you all may have heard how this man weaved magic with his willow to rule the grounds under the skies you roam around...
I get it!!
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is the greatest spectacle IPL has ever witnessed by a country mile. No matter where he goes from here, this season will be a tale which will make generations drenched in disbelief & left in awe. Unreal is an understatement!
Kamindu as deputy across formats is an encouraging call. The most suited for leadership in the long run from what we have seen yet. Helping him sort his game & accelerating that ascent hopefully soon after CWC 2027 should be one of the keys to follow in Gary Kirsten's tenure!
Have been eagerly following this ranking. Sanga with the sheer volume of runs at #7 seems a bit low. Was a top 3 candidate IMO this century. Eager to see who make the top six & how they compare. Few obvious choices, rest would be interesting given ODIs & Tests shall weigh heavy!
Elegance with teeth. He made purists swoon with his bent-kneed cover drive while being a nightmare for bowlers π«
At No. 7: Kumar Sangakkara
#CricinfoHonours
The length of IPL & batting friendly nature is an acid test of bowlers' skill & endurance. The ability to repeatedly deliver under pressure against the odds validates the most crucial facet of a bowler's value. Last night was another example of Eshan acing this facet once again!
I wish these gentlemen & their commitee survive long enough to transfer the clarity of thought, conviction and composure they depicted at the press briefing to the national teams to display on the field consistently. That i believe would be the ultimate win for this initiative!
When Sangakkara said Sooriyawanshi is more talented than he could ever have been I thought Sanga was being humble. But last evening he showed perhaps Sangakkara was right. Breaking boundaries of imagination at a rate higher than his boundary frequency.
If there was ever an interview you shouldn't miss as a Sri Lankan fan, this is it!!
Beautiful, Brilliant & What not!
It takes the right people to bring out the right stories. @brookeswrites unsurprisingly sets the ground perfectly for Farbrace to take us back to the golden era!
