@Paxxi@TinkerSec Biggest problem with that is consumer perception... People don't want to eat cockroaches... Also taste is something to consider... Different breeds of crickets can taste very different. Also meal worms are exceptional but people don't seem to want to buy them
@TinkerSec This is why I love the crickets... They see definitely the most bang for your buck, and you're not wasting time and money isolating ingredients then remixing them together later
@TinkerSec There are certain legal guidelines that need to be met for a real meal replacement... So you could slim it down but it would have to be called something else. Like maybe a nutritional shake?... But ramen is so cheap cause there is nothing to it
@TinkerSec Yeah, and whey is a byproduct. Many places would just dump it if it wasn't acidic and toxic to the environment in large amounts.
Pea protein is probably the cheapest right now.
But these other proteins are mostly only protein. The other nutrients are isolated out
@TinkerSec The shipping of the product is actually super cheap in the end because you generally ship large quantities...a pallet would have up to 10,000 servings and the more you ship, the cheaper it gets per serving.
@TinkerSec Problem is the price of crickets... Even if you farmed your own the price is quite high... Even at the scale of the largest farm it is still the most expensive protein..... Buuuut it packs the biggest punch nutrient wise.
