South Africa’s largest paramilitary force isn’t wearing camouflage. It’s driving Toyota Quantums.

The taxi industry operates with the firepower, discipline, and territorial control of an armed militia… except it answers to no constitution, no laws, and no courts.

Routes are patrolled with guns, rivals are eliminated with bullets, and disputes aren’t settled in boardrooms. They’re settled in morgues.

They shut down highways in minutes, block cities on demand, and negotiate with the government from a position of fear, not respect. They’ve killed more South Africans than most foreign insurgencies could dream of. And yet, the state treats them as an “essential service” because the truth is, the state has no control over them.

If another armed group behaved like this, we’d call it terrorism.

But here in South Africa, we call it “public transport.”

A helpless farmer, Neil McKay, who was shot through the spine 20 years ago in a farm attack, was tied up in his wheelchair and cruelly strangled to death in a second attack.

They also murdered 3 of his dogs with knives.

Bongani Mkhwanazi (27) and Bokang Petrose Tasti (26) were sentenced to life and 15 years imprisonment each for the murder. Mkhwanazi was a former employee of Mckay’s, who was dismissed two weeks before the incident.
