I've been writing to American Airlines, and they responded with kindness, respect, and care.
That matters.
Now let’s take it one step further:
Our service members deserve support, even when traveling out of uniform.
The way we communicate matters. When we lead with respect, people listen, and change becomes possible. @AmericanAir

@intruder506@AmericanAir Thank you Joe, honestly, I am asking very little: help them if they carry a valid Military ID. Companies like AA already have policies that will assist our troops but only if they are wearing their uniforms and that is what I would like to change.
I’m a Marine mom from Miami sharing this because small gestures toward our service members matter.
My son, an active-duty Marine, recently faced travel difficulties with @AmericanAir after a cancellation and was stranded overnight. He was also denied Admirals Club access.
@ciscolugo830@AmericanAir I know! But this is about all Marines and all our troops! some don’t even have money for a bottle of water in these moments. We can all do better!
@sebn3@vanderscott607@AmericanAir I am not a bot. I'm a mom and I have a son in the Marine Corps. All I want is to help him and all troops that serve our country. I do have an opinion.
@vanderscott607@sebn3@AmericanAir Thank you again! I will not stop until I can help our troops. We can all do better. All companies across the country should do better. all of us. @AmericanAir
Thank you so much for sharing this and thank you for your service🤍This is exactly why I’m speaking up. A valid Military ID should always be enough, especially since Marines can't travel in cammies. My son and his friends had been 30 days sleeping in terrible conditions when this happened. We can all do better @AmericanAir
@SanabriaMarcelo Thank you Marcelo, I know you care. I’ve always felt safe with AA, their pilots, and their crew members. I just hope their policies can do better for our troops as they sacrifice so much! We can all do better.
@AmericanAir Thank you so much! It is simply disheartening to know US Marines will not be eligible for certain courtesies intended for militaries if they are not in uniform. Military Id should be sufficient.
Thank you for responding and for your kind words about my son. I will send the confirmation code via DM. My hope is that situations like this help create awareness so that a military ID is always sufficient for U.S. Marines traveling on duty, even when they are not in uniform. Our troops deserve that level of support.
What many people don’t realize is that Marines are not allowed to wear their utility uniforms in public places like airports, so they often travel in civilian clothes even when on duty.
My hope is that stories like this raise awareness that a military ID should be sufficient.
