Critical Care Paramedic, dabbling in academia, a strong advocate of Paramedicine being paramedic led, keen to see more paramedic led research, opinions my own
@MelJurgens Qld got an exemption for Paramedics to be able to immunise for flu earlier in the year. It made sense for Paramedics to be immunising other Paramedics although the risk of rolling out to the general public would be increased strain on an already stretched service in most states
Not sure if this is revolutionary or not. How about nurses, physios, paramedics & docs have the same 1st year at uni?
30 credit A&P module
10 credit pharmacology
20 credit pt assessment/history taking
Promote understand of roles, flexible workforce & platform for progression...
There are systemic barriers to Masters- and PhD-level paramedics leading research. We need institutional homes (university faculties, research institutes) that enable access to journals & funding. Paramedic services also need to support clinician-researcher career pathways.
Does anyone else find it a little disturbing that Qld news outlets feel itโs ok to publish pictures and video of deceased patients under sheets and in body bags? Is it really necessary and in the public interest? @Aidan_Baron @RuthTownsendlaw @TheRealPBarry@ABCmediawatch
@FatamboGary @WayneLoudon @BobbyBoop86 @Aidan_Baron@WyliePara@martynichols9@mcclg @wiggs1234 With strong leadership and engagement I think it has the long term potential to push for more independence as practitioners...similar to the way hospital have guidelines/pathways for the management of various illness, but the individual clinician ultimately follows good practice
@mcclg @WayneLoudon @WyliePara@FatamboGary@martynichols9 @wiggs1234 There is definitely an opportunity here - Developing graduate pathways, accreditation of graduate programs and final examinations... then work on how to do the same for the more niche areas of paramedic practice (critical care, practitioner, retrieval, etc)
@martynichols9 Not intentionally... I imagine it would be quite tricky and uncomfortable depending on the stretcher and the patients body type. The new strykers which seem fairly widely used would force hyper extension of the lower back even in the โflatโ position.

@BillLord2 QAS still has the titles all the way up that align with police and fire and the epaulettes, however theyโre paired with โbusinessโ titles similar to health management - e.g chief superintendent/director. Most use the heath aligned title for media etc.
I did it ! As a sex worker, being able to do a thesis on decriminalisation and be able write about what im most passionate about is truly amazing. Iโve finished my masters degree in law!!! Iโm so fucking proud of myself โค๏ธ #sexworker#academic#law#decrim#sexworkersrights
Itโs pretty sad that these narrow minded folk find it necessary to act like this. Parents have a choice for their kids to participate. I think itโs amazing that people volunteer to read to kids at the library.
