there's only two good reasons to have children that i've found. one is you really like children and being a Nurturer. the other is you admire and love your partner so much that you firmly believe there should be more of them in this world, that their legacy is worth preserving.

It’s my birthday. My boyfriend is making us breakfast. (I asked him to please take his shirt off.) Kitchen towel is thrown haphazardly over his shoulder. The bacon sizzles. He’s the hottest person I’ve ever seen in my life. He’s also the kindest and the smartest. The most thoughtful the most patient. A lot of things I am not but hope to be. One of my friends told me about the Michelangelo effect (when it comes to relationships). The idea is that this person sees a big mound of clay (you), but somehow is able to bring out the best (in you). Sculpts it into something beautiful something marvelous. You should see the best in the person you’re with, and be able to bring it out of them. And vice versa. They’ll also hold up a mirror to you, and ask you to be better. And you’ll want to rise. People have this funny way of living up to your expectations of them. Anyway. All that is to say. For the first time in my life (after being terminally violently single) I’m in a healthy relationship. It’s awesome. Highly recommend.
I don't know who needs to hear this but someone recently told me "no amount of waiting will make you more brave, and no amount of worrying will make it more safe."
And honestly I think about this everyday.
I theorize that men think emotional support is more difficult than it is. They think it’s like dramatic gestures, when really it’s all the thoughtful ways to make your partner’s day a little better/less stressful, and when those little things are met day after day, it creates the trust and gratitude needed to communicate through the hard stuff. We know this bc this is how healthy friendships work - sexual desire just gets added in the mix, and men’s empathy short circuits.
“To create loving men, we must love males.” -bell hooks
There must be a path forward. Olive branches, reunification, connection, stability through conflict management and conflict resolution rather than conflict avoidance. Our gender problems are solvable, not insurmountable.
Gonna get canceled for this probably but. 30% body fat is considered obese (for men). We can work with what you got, but see previous tweet. I refuse to normalize obesity despite it being “normal.” It’s not. Let’s get in the gym first. Let’s figure out diet. Let’s get down to a healthy weight. You need to take care of your health like your life depends on it bc it does. Health is your number one priority. Being healthy or wanting to get healthy is not “selfish” in fact it is the least selfish thing you can do.
Then let’s talk about clothes.

I think my middle daughter is having the best summer of her childhood
She has this group of friends, they're all incoming 5th graders, and their moms and I have a big group chat going where a kid will ask their mom to say "anyone want to ride bikes" and then they start a little band of kids going house to house inviting others to play. Then they head to parks, to coffee shops, jump on the trampoline in their friends' yards.
One good thing though is that the moms are all in touch so even if the kids don't have phones or watches to communicate, we communicate with each other where they are/where they're headed.
They call it their biker gang.
My daughter has told me it is her favorite thing in the whole world, riding bikes with her friends. She says I'd rather do it than go to Disneyworld!
I asked her why and she said it's the freedom.
There is a certain age, I'd say something like grades 3 to 7, where it is essential kids get some independence. I think back to the times in my childhood where I was given some freedom to wander in those ages, and those are some of the best memories of my life.
It's so important we don't rob our kids of this. Make it happen by any means possible.
