Watch them make a re-release to include her in 2 or 3 years. I swear... to me it just feels like they're lying just like when they said "we wanted a faithful recreation of base P3" as to why The Answer wasn't there even tho dataminers found code of the DLC in the game...
PINNED.
@ChristinaTasty Of course, people are making them aware of the flawed argument but they ain't listening, like there's a guy that went on a detailed thread of why the argument is bad... but yeah.
@ChristinaTasty Their argument is that her writing is very inconsistent for the point of her arc to make sense in both accounts (Mulan and trans). But the thing is that it isn't inconsistent, the dude once posted a dialogue out of context ''why wasn't I born a man'' to reinforce his point.
@MouhaNouha Because the morals of clashing ideals of what could be a better or worse world aren't as important enough unlike fighting with randos online about whether a fictional anime teenager likes dudes or chicks.
The localized names of the Digimon kids are dumb but I get the intent (hate the names also got into Latam but whatevs), but what was the intent in Tamers where they are largely kept Japanese? Ruki Mitsuki to Rika Nonaka and Takato Matsuda to Matsuki... and poor Jiang- Henry.
@MsInf0rmation Not a good first impression, ngl. It's just amazing how it's gonna be almost 20 fucking years of the same discourse over such a simple character arc.
I AM trying to have an open mind to this snipet of the video but I can't considering how she's missing the point entirely on the dialogue and the context already given by the game even before Yukiko says the oh so insensitive line, and only focusing on Japanese character tropes.
i encourage you all to watch this analysis of gender norms and sociocultural beliefs in japan at the time of the game's release as well as how naoto's writing can come off as insensitive as it's a far more nuanced topic than both sides of this debate often make it out to be
To start with, I do like how the game looks, extremely so... but aside from that, why are western devs so unable to replicate a model's face into a game? I once read it's impossible to do so but that isn't the case with male models, Debra Wilson or Japanese games overall.
The new God of War Faye spin-off is getting huge backlash for making the in-game character way uglier than Deborah Ann Woll, the voice and motion-capture actress behind Faye.
Sony did it again, you can thank the usual consultants
@JillButDumber No, the issue is seeing something that isn't what it actually is because it's missing the entire moral of the plot.
''It could be queer''
It could've been but it ultimately isn't, at least outside of ONLY Kanji's main story arc which dealt with his sexuality but later dropped it.
@God_James_VII Ok no, Igor doesn't say that in P4, only in P5 and that wasn't even Igor, not to mention it was done so that way as an artistic liberty of the common disclaimer that everything presented is coincidental to real life events.
''She may not be''
She isn't, period, there's no maybes nor perhaps.
''you can't deny the game-''
No, no and no. Shadows exaggerate a core issue into something grander. She wants validation as her gender but since she feels she can't the Shadow does this shit.
It ain't mocking.
@yoruutano she may not be trans but you can’t deny that the game does at least play with the idea with little sensitivity. ie when gender affirming surgery is presented as this evil procedure with giant cartoon drills and buzzsaws it can come off as mocking of the idea regardless of context
@amen_handle@justhereforart6 The game doesn't make it unclear, it is very clear about it both in her dungeon and in her social link. The game isn't fresh in my head but I do remember it made her feelings and intentions clear in it... I would advice replaing her social link and dungeon at least.
@amen_handle@justhereforart6 Not really inconsistent. Her desire to be a man is solely for validation in her dream job... her entire arc is about her feeling validated and since no one validates her intelligence due to being young and a woman she feels that the only way to be validated is to be a man.
