Practical carbon capture and sequestration scalable to Gigatons! Our multidisciplinary team is committed to this exciting XPRIZE project supported by Elon Musk
CROPS has a new way to learn about climate, estimate your impact and optionally participate in carbon removal
It's fun and interesting π

@bbclaurak
If you have a moment, please take a look at our website to see our climate idea
Your BBC interview with Arnold Schwarzenegger was compelling
We would be grateful if you would make him aware of us
We are not whining, we're doing
Thank you

@PeterDiamandis@elonmusk@RationalEtienne@stuartestrand
Peter's timely reminder of the importance of gratitude makes it important to thank everyone listed above, the entire CROPS team, and all our supporters!
Friday we have an important announcement
All best wishes, David
The air is the least efficient location to store excess CO2
The deep ocean is the end point of the natural carbon cycle due to gravity and is the natural carbon sink for billions of years
Our solution is to put the carbon in billions of tons of crop residue back in the ocean
Whether you call it climate change or CO2 level increase, we're currently running an uncontrolled experiment that has the potential to be an extinction level event in time
Our goal is to flatten the curve, buy us some time, and then bring CO2 levels back down in coming decades
@michaelsgordon@ClimateAtState@DepSecStateMR@ElliottSchoolGW@StateDept Putting divisive politics aside for a moment, if you substitute "CO2 change" for "climate change" then look at the numbers, it becomes obvious we are running an uncontrolled global experiment on atmospheric modification
CROPS is working nonpartisan to reduce the rate of change
@elonmusk@xprize@PeterDiamandis@AnoushehAnsari@RationalEtienne
Again, we would like to thank Elon Musk, Peter Diamandis, and Anousheh Ansari for creating the incentive for us to exist, using a solid idea envisioned over 20 years ago and proven to work!
And we are deeply grateful for supporters such as the Pope of Muskanity for their tireless blessings of humor and insight!
It is important to remember that with every harvest of food, there's also harvest of carbon. Carbon in crop residue can be stored permanently and safely by recycling that carbon to the deep ocean, where would normally end up anyway by natural processes.
Nature is ready to do most of the work in carbon removal. We have the means, the method, and the opportunity to take advantage of more than a gigatonne a year of carbon that can be safely and affordably removed permanently.
@elonmusk@Rothmus Thank you for posting facts,
not hype or panic!
Obviously, the CROPS team is doing something real and scalable to solve the problem long term and eventually bring levels down in an economically feasible manner.
As long as humans use agriculture, @CropsXprize is a solution π
@PeterDiamandis They said it all in "Galaxy Quest" π
Never give up, never surrender!
That approach is working for @CropsXprize
(CROPS' carbon removal orders in metric tonnes have grown per year 2021-2023 from 2 to 100 to 6000 despite all kinds of obstacles)
https://t.co/FrkfgwB0Gb
We wish to thank the highly respected conservation magazine Woop Woop @woopwoopmagz for their wonderful European coverage on what we're doing
We are excited that our natural carbon removal process will help mitigate climate change globally
#ClimateAction
@elonmusk@RationalEtienne@wholemars Put another way, modern agriculture allows gigatonnes of atmospheric carbon to be removed annually if we collect the crop residue and store it in the deep ocean
93%+ carbon efficient (98%+ with renewable EV), well under $100 a tonne, and we have proven it works!
@CropsXprize
@elonmusk@RationalEtienne@wholemars And in the meantime while we're transitioning away from fossil fuels, you can use @CropsXprize which is crop residue ocean permanent sequestration
CROPS is natural carbon recycling to the deep ocean where it would end up naturally - but much sooner
https://t.co/OssNVPEeLZ
@elonmusk One caution is that if carbon tax revenues are not used wisely it could end up back in the hands of CO2 generating industries as subsidies with the same problems that cost+plus contracts have
In the meantime @CropsXprize is demonstrating affordable permanent carbon removal
@RationalEtienne@elonmusk That is exactly the loophole I'm concerned about in my post a moment ago
It is necessarily to be written that the tax revenue would be used for "cleanup" so that carbon removal methods would be compensated for atmospheric cleanup and carbon recycling
@CropsXprize@xprize
In 5 years:
10,000 tonnes of carbon permanently sequestered per day per ship
Zero emissions
Zero carbon transportation
96% carbon LCA efficiency
Thank you ChatGPT4 + DALL-E3 for taking the CPU cycles to analyze our project, process, and illustrate this
https://t.co/QXBaJkjrK3
@FredWitting @GlobalEcoGuy Our CROPS process is inherently and naturally cost-effective, massively scalable, and safe without new technology or large energy usage
We're glad to see many new processes coming online
We scale 10X faster per CAPEX $ than "legobrick"
Expect announcements from us in 2024 π
@michellehampson Thank you for the well written article!
As someone who's just spent several months in Europe working to bring our process into global use, I want you to be aware of what our team is doing @CropsXprize
https://t.co/COgBWClemA
We wish to thank the Orange County Business Journal for their article about CROPS and our growing relationship with Birtcher Development!
More and more attention is being given to the potential of CROPS to safely store Gigatonnes of #carbon annually.
