To think beyond our school walls second graders went to the ocean today to learn how coding can help create new ways to clean our oceans and tried it out themselves too.
Today was the best AAC coding This 2nd grade class has a friend who uses an AAC. Today these kids coding and asked her if she would like to test their code. She instantly clicked Yes and smiled at her friend. Today they were able to let a friend show their voice. @ATS_FCPS
The AAC building kicks off today. We talked about how coding goes beyond the silly things we can make and help to give someone else a voice. Don’t mind me over here cutting onions over my second graders @ATS_FCPS@FCPS_LIS@FCPSSTEAM@fcpsnews
We seriously couldn’t love this enough! 😍😍😍. Our library is a place that honors diversity. Especially neurodiversity. We can’t wait to see what our second graders build! @FCPS_LIS
Coding meets empathy and understand as second graders this week learned about AAC and assistive technology. Today they are planning an AAC board that they will build and code next week in @ScratchJr. I couldn’t be prouder. @ATS_FCPS
Major shout out to my amazing volunteers that velcro’ed over 240 pieces to help prepare new adapted library boards for my enhance autism classrooms. So much time saved for me so I can build even more to serve our students with brand new books and activities. Thank you!!!!
My 2nd graders have been rocking their coding. To celebrate World Autism Acceptance Day coming up, I have an ambitious coding project for them in @ScratchJr . Here's hoping that building empathy & tech skills now will inspire some to build amazing things. @FCPS_LIS@FCPSSTEAM
When the prize for the Read Across America Book Puppet and Boom Trailer contest is a golden 3D printed model of your school mascot you go HARD! My email has about 30 trailers. Good luck picking @CrossfieldES teachers!!!
So super proud of these members of our Tech Team. They volunteered to present POG POLs to our community last night. It’s so important that all stakeholders understand what POG looks like & how POLs amplify student voice. These Rockets soared sharing their growth! #fcpsPOGPOL
Today my highlight were my teachers who found picture books that represented them and their families that I’ve bought as a part of my massive diversity audit. They checked out ten books to read and share with their families because they felt seen. #weneeddiversebooks@FCPS_LIS
This morning’s snow inspired a team building activity! Each team had 6 pieces of paper, glue sticks, and 10 minutes to build the tallest snowman. @CrossfieldES
