Playing video games since ‘88. I love Dragon Quest, shmups, MST3K, Godzilla, Star Wars, classic TV, city pop, synth. Vic Viper & Metal Slime are my heroes.

Naoki Hamaguchi says being able to bring main Final Fantasy back to Nintendo, with the launch of FF7 Revelation, after almost 30 years is very meaningful!
"When I was a child and I was a fan of Final Fantasy VII, of course, that was exactly the point in time where, what was then Square, was shifting the Final Fantasy series over from Nintendo to the PlayStation platform. So I watched it in real time.
And then, obviously, at the time, Kitase-san and Nomura-san they made the decision to do so, for the reasons at the time. And I do feel like, for me to be able to bring it back to Nintendo platforms is quite meaningful."

These pathetic Sony execs just cannot stop posting their "L"s.
This is what a REAL game collection should be. Not just a list on a database on some remote server in who-knows-where. Real discs. Real manuals.
This is what they want to take away from you.
Naoki Hamaguchi says the FF7 Remake Series story will end in FF7 Revelation and any hypothetical DLC would be a spin-off story similar to the Yuffie DLC!
“The story will be concluded within the main game. We’re serious about concluding the series with FFVII Revelation, and we’re proceeding with development with that goal in mind.
If we were to hypothetically release any DLC, we would likely want to create a kind of spin-off focused on a specific character that depicts their untold stories, kind of like what we did with Yuffie with FF7R EPISODE INTERmission, and I think there is demand for it among fans. So, in case we do end up considering making a DLC, this is the kind of thing that we’d likely attempt to do.”

This is the most GORGEOUS Gameboy emulation I've ever seen. The creator was insanely dedicated to replicating the look and feel of the original Gameboy screen, replicating not just the software, but the physical properties of the screen and how light interacts with it. BEAUTIFUL!
I burn a lot of precious life energy posting on here. So if you've ever enjoyed my posts please try out my upcoming game, Lost and Found Co! Try it!
It's easy to pick up but rewards deep focus! Please wishlist it on Steam! Launch date: March 6, 2026 (soon!!)

If you are dissatisfied with PlayStation halting the production of physical game discs, address your concerns to the SONY GROUP Board of Directors. Put your thoughts into a polite and respectful one-page typed letter to the SONY Group in Japan. See image. Please repost.
@Wario64 Thanks, terrible execs at Sony for officially confirming that the PS5 Pro I bought 4 months ago will be the last Sony console I ever own and that any non-Switch 2 gaming purchases I make going forward will be on PC & older consoles, a decision that’s immediate and non-cautious.
Shigeru Miyamoto says The Legend of Zelda was inspired by Western RPGs as they wanted to appeal to more players!
"We had arcade-style games and sports games, but in order to capture the interest of a large number of people, we had to create new types of games. We wanted to make a different style of game where you don't continue linearly towards the goal."
"We wanted a game where the main character was the focus, and we also wanted to utilize save data. With this challenge in mind we made the [Famicom] Disc System. It was after this that we started to think about game design.
"At that time, RPGs on PC were catching on abroad, but they weren't widespread at all in Japan. Nintendo leveraged the technology it had developed up until that point, and gathered the most interesting elements [of these games] to recreate them for the Famicom. That's how I came up with a similar game design for The Legend of Zelda."

Interesting bit of data here from Capcom that I've highlighted.
Their Q1 YoY physical sales were down most years, barring 2023, but is up by 133% this year.
As we saw with games like Requiem and Pragmata, the physical copies sold out almost instantly. I wonder what the numbers would be on physical if there were more supply to meet demand? You'd have to imagine that while digital will always be dominant, many people likely opted for digital when they couldn't find physical.
Equally interesting to note is they're expecting a drop next Q1.
Shuhei Yoshida says Japan Studio was closed down because PlayStation wanted AAA games, not AA games, and Japan Studio was unable to scale up
“Players from around the world have said that it's unbelievable that Sony would shut down Japan Studio. Japan Studio released loads of games, creative games, didn't it? At that time I was saying something similar.”
"At that time, as the head of development, I was worried about [Keiichiro] Toyama [creator of Silent Hill] and the other Japanese developers at Japan Studio. But while they came up with a lot of creative ideas, the games they made weren't big in scale. What we call AA games are a perfect fit for the PlayStation Vita, but we were slowly shifting to AAA on the PS4 and PS5, and sometimes it's difficult to scale up like that."
"As a company, PlayStation wanted to drive hardware sales with games like God of War and Uncharted, because that's the kind of game that's in demand. It's hard for Japan Studio to launch a new series on console."
He urges players who loved Japan Studio to support the creators that worked there’s new games like Slitterhead and Ratatan.
