After writing for an alternative version of Grey, I thought to write a biography for this version of Samantha, to clear my thoughts from the last day:
In the end, Samantha Maxis was forced to sacrifice herself to stop the Forsaken, allowing her friends to put him to an end. She had to say goodbye to her friends... to the woman she loved, manipulated into doing so "for a better tomorrow".
However, Samantha didn't feel consumed... dead... she expected to be devoured by the Dark Aether. Nothing of it happened.
Instead, Samantha woke up in an ordinary field, in the middle of nowhere, wearing the same clothes as her first long walk into the Dark Aether, a strange-looking tomahawk of fire at her belt and powerless. She felt the Dark Aether had rejected her, sent her away to a new life, still wondering how she was still alive, but very soon she discovered that the world she was walking on was worse than anything she could have imagined.
She was in 1952...and the Germans were ruling the world.
They won WW2 after nearly losing in 1945 with weapons that fell out of nowhere, changing the tide of the war in a few months before a devastating nuclear strike wiped New York off the Earth. Now led by Edward Richtofen, whose Samantha managed to recognize, looking exactly like Eddie, the Germans were unstoppable, thanks to a mysterious figure that allowed Germany to win the war.
Soon tracked by the Germans, Samantha chose to fight this regime, found old friends from this universe, and, over time, regained her powers with a clear goal: destroy Richtofen's Reich, discover the reason for their impossible victory, and, most of all...
Why was she still alive?
