@HuxleyMick Pfft - what an idiot you are with all that 'grit and ambition' - all you needed to do was skim 47% of other people's hard-earned profits #socialism4ever
The major revisions to CGT you introduced that you lied you weren't going to do before the election is akin to taking blood from the arm of a person, spilling most of it on the floor (Government spending), and then transfusing what remains back in the person's other arm and calling it a tax cut that we somehow should be thankful for.
Yet a young person 'starting up' an investing plan early in life who invests in tech companies wouldn't get a CGT concession. They really haven't thought through all the second-order issues all aspects of their tax overhaul (grab) has caused. They would be toast if an election was held soon.
@drewdamn87@evisdrenova 100% on this was such a ridiculous claim, like, because pharma execs and their families don't die from cancer like everyone else?
@JEChalmers Facts are you lied about these tax changes going into the election as you knew you may have lost the election because of it. Now you'll end up losing the next one.
@ausstockchick Well, ignoring all the investor roadkill that the budget caused, guess they could achieve their aim of making entry into the housing more affordable. But at the same time every single homeowner in Australia will be hating the ALP for giving the value of their home a major haircut
If ON and ON curious voters can maintain the rage for this term (no shortage of Labour own goals to keep it fueled), then surely a good chance of a change of Government in less than 2 years with some mix of LNP and ON MPs that before the budget looked remote. And if so, it's game on for nuclear power and mining bans would cave. Maybe Cook will read the room and front-run it
@linzcom A falling CPI is still a positive CPI. CPI would have to go negative to put us into deflation before that would increase a person's cost base.
I was a PEN holder up to 3 years ago and sold at a loss for what I considered 2 strikes in my black book - countless strikes since then. Sometimes the best investment decisions you make are stemming losses and moving to better prospects as this leopard will never change its spots.
