🚨 Largest Homeless Shelter for the Mentally Ill and Chemically Addicted Coming to Crown Heights

A massive development is rapidly taking shape on the former Kingsboro Psychiatric Center campus in Crown Heights.

The project, which stretches from Albany Avenue to Troy Avenue and from Clarkson Avenue to Winthrop Street, is planned to include approximately 1,081 housing units across 9 buildings.

Construction is moving quickly, with foundations being poured throughout the site and portions of several structures already rising above ground.

The development is expected to become the largest MICA (Mentally Ill Chemically Addicted) center in the United States and could be the largest homeless shelter development in the country. While the total number of beds has not been publicly disclosed, the scale of the project suggests it could accommodate thousands of residents.

The project is expected to open in 2029 and will dramatically reshape a large section of the neighborhood.
