In Science, Y1/Y2 have been looking at everyday materials. Yesterday, the children did an experiment to see whether materials absorbed or repelled water! π§π§ͺπ¬

This week in writing, Y5/Y6 have been preparing for their final writing pieces by analysing the vehicle text 'The Hound of the Baskervilles'. They used drama to retell the cliffhanger scene and identify the movement and emotions felt by the characters as the tension rose.πΊ
As Y5/6 begin their new unit exploring textiles and collage, they are focusing on the shapes and lines created by trees.π³They zoomed in to closely observe the lines and patterns found in bark and will be using a range of different media to recreate these textures in their work!
Today we learned that when you paint on ice, it dries almost instantly! π¨βοΈ We also explored different ways to melt the ice so we could rescue our baby dinosaurs π¦π§
Oak Class have been using their imagination to create fairytale book covers for their reading display! 2026 is the UK 'Year of Reading' and Y3/Y4 wanted to show all their favourite stories! ππβ€οΈ
This morning we welcomed a very special visitor into schoolβ¦ π β¨Santa popped by to read us a story, spreading lots of festive cheer, and all of the children received a very special gift! What a lovely surprise and a perfect way to start the day! ππ
π Christmas Cookery Fun! π
The whole school enjoyed yesterdayβs cookery workshops where everyone made their own individual festive cheesecakes. The children did a fantastic job following instructions and getting creative. Well done to all our budding chefs! π°β¨
In writing, Y1/Y2 have been writing instruction sentences! They used role play to think of words that they could include in their sentences!πβ€οΈππ
Y5/Y6 sharpened their working scientifically skills. They explored independent, dependent, and controlled variables in a scientific enquiry. The children then planned and carried out an investigation, focusing on which variables they would change / which they would keep the same.
