@SamirDwesar@CroydonLabour@JasonForCroydon@CroydonTories Meetings are all good and well but we need action. It’s not all on Westfield. Better policing, cleaner spaces, temporary activation of shop units. There is more that can be done. What has happened with the Allders project and it becoming a pop up entertainment centre?
@chrisclarkcpfc Whilst not ideal, it is policy compliant in respect of affordable housing provision so any refusal would have likely led to a cost claim at appeal. That being said, there were some other more questionable aspects such as separation distances which were not compliant by a long way
@CllrIanParker@CroydonTories Isn’t that what notification letters, posters outside of the site and the Croydon planning portal are suppose to do?
Who makes the judgement that it is ‘significant’ and why has this one been specifically chosen to feature on your letter over others? Is that not bias?
@CFergusFerrell@culturecroydon Agreed but what events are there?
6 months in and I have only seen one advertised at the Fairfield otherwise no promotion or information. So frustrating that we win the bid and then nothing. £250k in grants and yet to see where it has been spent?
@CroydonLabour Ironic @CroydonLabour use the slogan #paymoregetless.. isn’t that what you did with the Fairfield Halls & Brick by Brick?
BTW, I’m pretty sure it’s No Mow May.
Why don’t all the political parties work towards positive change in Croydon rather than erroneous petty point scoring
@MayorofLondon You are exceptionally consistent in blaming others whilst inflicting significantly more suffering on those who need help the most with bad policy and stealth taxes off the back of baseless ‘facts’. Do some real research rather than using the press as your ‘evidence’ 🤦🏻♂️
The irony when @InsideCroydon, the claimants of free speech and unfettered journalism, block you for having a difference of opinion and you call them out for swearing. #nofreespeechhere Reminiscent of playground behaviours 🤦🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
@knowles204@InsideCroydon@MayorofLondon Stop reading the daily Mail. The main issues are down to supply and that is largely stifled by government putting politics over policy. Until we have a government who is serious about delivering housing at a level that will help address the shortage the same issues will exist.
@Guv007@MayorofLondon@InsideCroydon Does anybody when any ‘crash’ would impact on everyone given the knock on effect to our already broken economy? We need to address the fundamental issues first before blaming landlords. Government and thier agenda / policy should be held to account for failing to deliver housing
@MayorofLondon The main cause of increased rents;
Trussanomics & the significant increase in mortgage costs
Poorly conceived tax policy
Hyper inflation
Landlords selling due to the above factors
Poor housing supply (new & existing)
Most landlord costs have risen by 60+% since the Truss budget
@MayorofLondon@InsideCroydon Rent freezes don’t work, ask Scotland. Instead call on the government to provide support for landlords and developers so they can provide homes quicker and incentivise rather than penalise. Just another politician who is detached from the actual issues at play here
@JediLuke9 @InsideCroydon@MayorofLondon I agree better standards & oversight would be a positive. More tax and costs will only result in landlords selling, less rental stock, less investment, higher prices and less rentable homes to live in. There is a bigger issue here causing the problem.. failure to deliver housing.
@knowles204@MayorofLondon@InsideCroydon It’s a very sweeping and unsubstantiated generalisation that landlords are greedy and rich. Without landlords there are less homes for people to rent and live in which only worsens the housing problem. The reality is rent caps have been tried and don’t fix the issue.
@InsideCroydon@MayorofLondon Who said support had to be financial for developers and landlords? Better funded planning depts, well considered planning policy that encourages housing delivery, fair tax policy for landlords. Perhaps hold off the swearing, it only discredits what you have to say #blockyourself
@InsideCroydon@MayorofLondon A very insular view based on dated and skewed outlook. The basis you have an expectation that developers shouldn’t generate profit is flawed. On the most part, they operate the same as any other business, pay taxes, employ people, spend money in the economy, pay CIL.. terrible 🤦🏻♂️
