@shallowedbreath "I just like moving about, discovering new places. Even when you're old like me, places change; old becomes new again."
He didn't dwell on that, rather going for another bite of sundae to reflect on.
"Imagine me, back then, realizing there was a whole *world* past the horizon."
@shallowedbreath "When air conditioning was invented."
The godkiller joked off the cuff, but seemed to take a moment to think it over.
"There was a little while I worked as a sailor in the 1700s. It's good, hard work - and rather liberating, I thought. Kind of carefree, really."
@shallowedbreath "I guess you've got to ask yourself what's keeping you tied to something you don't like."
The godkiller smiled at her expression; happy to follow with a bite himself of the sundae. She was a woman of taste.
"Take it from me; I've been a dozen different things over my life."
@shallowedbreath "You don't strike me as the 'throw in the towel' type. You're too stubborn for that, Fianna."
As she slinked down, he scooped up some sundae. It was actually meant for her, offered to keep her spirits up.
"But if you do change - at least you won't be alone, I promise."
@shallowedbreath "I mean, I'm old as hell and I still want to lounge around and sing."
But singing brought back bad memories. They were thankfully interrupted as their desserts, loaded with fudge, arrived.
"But you do have some money. You could collect art still, I bet."
@shallowedbreath "You're preaching to the choir, love."
Had he put his hands on any bread this evening? They had a small basketful and now it was all gone. Like magic.
"There wasn't really such a thing as 'being a kid' in the 1400s. Either you helped with the farm or you trained up to fight."
@shallowedbreath "I don't know about glutton."
He said, even as she had eaten into his own plate when he was distracted with his own thoughts. It seemed that he didn't mind, at least.
"But you've got me curious, now; what was little Fianna like? I can't imagine you as a kid."
@shallowedbreath "And the Swiss comes out."
The godkiller teased... but he also looked at the massive sundae with some interest. It was hard to say no to *that* much chocolate.
"This one will be my treat, then."
As the waiter came over to inquire their opinion, he ordered the massive sundae.
@shallowedbreath "We're in a fancy French place, there's ought to be something sweet here."
Since they were finished, their plates were taken away, and they were given the dessert menus.
"Of course; you are Swiss, so you might school me on this."
@shallowedbreath "Then let's be selfish and enjoy each other's presence."
The godkiller finished off his wine, rather sorely needed. He dabbed at his lips with a napkin as he thought.
"... And on that same line of thought, I think we deserve some dessert."
@shallowedbreath "That's kind of how I try to think of it, really. 'Immortality' doesn't really mean much in the greater scale of things. It can still end before you know it."
He paused, then winked at her.
"So I try to do things that make me happy. Such as spending time with you."
@shallowedbreath "I don't blame you that it does. It bothers a lot of people when they find out."
Tulio finished his plate - with ample help from Fianna, it seemed - and leaned back into the seat. The last few bits of wine sat at the bottom of the glass.
"I try not to dwell on it."
@shallowedbreath "Even gods get scared. Trust me; I've seen up it close for myself."
Though he knew there was more to her words than idle observation. He paused, letting her chip away at his plate before taking another bite.
"... Does that bother you? The difference between us?"
@shallowedbreath "... Being honest with myself, first, perhaps."
The godkiller sighed softly. Then he took a sip of the wine, because he felt he needed it.
"I haven't dwelt too much on anything lately, I'll admit. Part of me was - is - a bit... well, scared, I suppose."
@shallowedbreath "Oh, I'm alright, now. Honestly."
It never felt honest when someone asked something like that, the words always sounded a bit hollow to him. Maybe they were. He smiled to her all the same, which came easily.
"I've had delightful company since then, so I can't complain."
@shallowedbreath "Even when I'm at my lowest, I can't help being charming. It's just part of my allure."
Though he paused for a moment; seeming to contemplate something, eyes on her.
"Though, you did find me. I'm not sure if I've said it outright, but - I'm glad you did."
@shallowedbreath "I've got my moments! I'd like to think I'm not all that bad."
The godkiller stifled a chuckle as she spoke with her mouth full; it was charming, in its own way. He sliced off his own.
"I'd like to think I'm even downright pleasant, sometimes. And you look really good tonight."
@shallowedbreath "Ah? So you're beautiful *and* you can read me like a book? It's not fair."
Tulio grinned over the rim of his wine glass; taking a sip before focusing on the food before them.
"You see, I'm completely at your whim, Fianna."
@shallowedbreath "It wasn't a save! You genuinely are."
At her request, the glass was filled again. Incidentally, the food came at that time, set on plates before either of them. Tulio had the good graces to thank them before they left.
"I haven't been able to take my eyes off you tonight."
