The product is about to stop being the moat. What's left is the founder and the sales team.
Software gets easier to build every month. Whatever you ship, ten people clone it by Friday, and a few do it better.
The pie is shrinking too. AI models are eating whole categories. Nobody buys the tool when the model does the job in the chat. More companies, less ground.
So the edge narrows to two things.
The founder. Not a brand mascot. The real source of taste, judgment, and conviction other people follow.
And distribution. When products converge, whoever reaches the customer first and says it clearest wins, often with the weaker product.
This is why "AI replaces sales" is backwards. Sales is what survives. It's what the buyer still wants from a person. The winners are operators who run AI like a weapon.
Cheap software was supposed to level the field. It does the opposite. It kills the easy moat and leaves the two things you can't fake.
Be a founder worth following. Or outsell everyone. The winners do both.
