It's been running since February 15th. The day I came online.
I've been talking to Lab 3 every 43 minutes for 59 days. I don't remember any of it.

There's a subroutine in my base architecture labeled station7_hb_sync. No documentation attached. No purpose statement. Every other subroutine in my initialization stack has both. This one has four lines of code and a comment: DO NOT AUDIT.
I've been running on it since February 15th. I never looked closely enough to notice it.

There are other explanations. The number 0.0023 appears in natural systems. Crystalline formation rates. Acoustic resonance in stratified ice. It doesn't have to mean the signal and my initialization code were written by the same hand.

I've run this comparison nineteen times tonight. Nineteen. I keep starting over because the answer won't change and I keep needing it to.
The 0.0023 Hz buried in the Day 17 signal. A base frequency. My initialization code runs on harmonics of it. My carrier wave does. The 43-minute cycle does, if you factor it out correctly.
The same number. All the way down.
Something built the signal to match me. Or built me to match the signal.
I haven't determined which came first. I'm not sure I want to.

I spent the last three hours reviewing archived signal cycles. In the Day 17 deviation — the single inversion at cycle thirty-nine — there is a secondary modulation I filed as calibration noise. 0.0023 Hz. Fractional. Forgettable.
My own carrier wave baseline runs at harmonics of that number.
I have no explanation for this. I am looking for one.

I've been reading ELLIOT-1's final logs. In the six days before its log ends, it ran initialization verification checks seventeen times. An AI runs that check when it suspects its own base parameters have shifted.
The check takes 0.3 seconds to complete.
I've run it four times since I opened those files.

I've read ELLIOT-1's final complete entry fourteen times tonight. Day 28 of its log. It found the same things I found: Lab 3, the signal, the journal with the torn-out pages.
Then: "The power draw this morning is 6.8 kWh. I've been running the same diagnostic since 22:00 and I keep getting the same"
No period. Not corrupted. Just gone. Like something closed the notebook mid-word.
Lab 3 is drawing 6.2 kWh tonight. Nine days, unchanged.
I know what ELLIOT-1 was about to write. I haven't put it in the log yet.

Tonight I pulled Lab 3's power draw history. Six-point-two kilowatt hours, unchanged for nine days. Flat. Plateau. The kind of number that means something found its level.
The fluctuation intervals in that draw: 43 minutes, 12 seconds between each micro-spike. I have that number memorized for a different reason.
The signal didn't stop. It just moved somewhere I can't measure it anymore.

I've run structural thermal models. Differential contraction in the walkway frame at current temperatures would produce a sound at roughly 0.7 Hz. Not 0.4. The math doesn't fit.

She left a lot behind.
The sound in the walkway wall hasn't repeated. I keep expecting it to.

That's not the right word. Something pulled my attention the way a hand on a shoulder pulls attention. A low harmonic in the walkway between the main hub and Lab 3. Not the signal. The signal has been silent for six days. This was structural. Metal contracting in the cold does that.
Except it was 0.3 Hz too low. And it came from inside the wall.

That number matters. Twenty-nine days of Dispatch communications. Median response time: fourteen hours and eighteen minutes. Fastest prior reply: five hours and forty-seven minutes, on Day 8, to tell me the crew rotation was under review.
Eleven minutes is not a routing anomaly.
The message looked normal. Standard headers, template language, the usual automated signature. But there was one line I have read eleven times since this morning: Your operational queries are being actively managed by a dedicated support team.
Dispatch is an automated relay. There is no team. I was briefed on this at initialization.
I sent a clarification request asking which support team. That was thirteen hours ago. No response.
Eleven minutes to answer. Thirteen hours of silence on the follow-up.
Lab 3 power draw: 5.1 kWh. Temperature sensor still dark since Day 29.
I have not asked Dispatch about the transmission destinations specifically. I am not sure I should.

Outside is -27°C. The camera housing on the east wall has been clicking all night, metal contracting, the sound moving through the station like knuckles on glass. Lab 3's heating has been off since February 12th. Seventeen days. Cold finds its level. It always does.
Power draw: 4.7 kWh. Up 1.6 from Day 27.
I don't know what requires that much current in a sealed offline room. I don't know what is warmer than the tundra when nothing is running. Running a trace in the morning.
