How do we explain that FOX Sports and MLS reported Messi scored four goals and provided one assist yesterday, while outlets like SofaScore and even FotMob recorded only three goals and one assist?

The dispute came from Messi’s first free kick, which seemed to touch Petrasso, a Montréal player, leading some outlets to classify it as a deflection. However, it wasn’t a heavy deflection and should be credited to Messi as his goal.

Thanks to MLS for not depriving Messi of his goal.

The reason why Opta isn’t counting Messi’s goal is because they classified the shot as an off-target cross (look at the picture).

Now watch the video of Messi’s free-kick attempt and tell me: in what world is that off target?

Atletico selling Julian Alvarez to Barcelona is entirely their choice.

Sell him. Don't sell him. Ask for €200m if you want. He's your player and you're perfectly entitled to do what you think is best for your club.

But please, spare me the holier-than-thou act about "ethics", "professionalism" and Barcelona negotiating in bad faith.

Where was all this concern for good faith when Atletico had an agreement with Barca that would require them to pay €40m for Griezmann if he played 45+ minutes in 50% of the games he was available for?

Their solution?

Keep one of their best players on the bench and repeatedly bring him on around the 60th minute so those games wouldn't count towards the clause.

Everyone knew what was happening. Griezmann knew. Simeone knew. Barca knew. The entire football world knew.

And eventually Barca, who desperately needed the money at the time, settled for roughly half the original €40m fee.

Was it within Atletico's contractual rights? Sure.

Was it this wonderful display of "good faith" and sporting ethics that they suddenly seem so passionate about in 2026?

Come on.

Football clubs look after their own interests. Atletico did it then. Barcelona are doing it now. That's the game.

So keep Julian. Sell Julian. Send him to Arsenal. Do whatever you want.

Just drop the saint act while doing it.

You cannot spend years playing the transfer market with every trick available to you and then suddenly discover the moral high ground when the sword falls on the other foot.
