Hello World. What is Xahau? What does it do? Why does it exist?
Embark on a journey through the launch of Xahau with its innovative feature: account-based programmability through Hooks. This opens up possibilities for endless use cases and decentralized business logic.
I asked for ideas for hooks exactly two weeks ago. @Satish_nl caught one of the ideas and now he’s already done – even with a tutorial! No need to wait for amendments, when ideas can be implemented and deployed live on Xahau mainnet in no time.
I want to share a little bit about JS Hooks on Xahau. Today we launched a testnet for the JS Hooks Amendment. Adding support for custom logic deployed on ledger, written in plain Javascript.
For years, we've been hearing big promises about blockchain's potential. But let's be honest - development has often been a headache. Complex frameworks, steep learning curves, and solutions that don't quite fit real-world needs.
That's why we're genuinely excited about JS Hooks. It's not another overhyped feature - it's a practical tool that addresses real problems.
Here's the deal: JS Hooks let you write custom logic for the blockchain in JavaScript. Yes, plain old JavaScript. The same language you probably use every day. No new jargon, no obscure syntax.
What does this mean in practice? It means you can create solutions that actually fit your specific needs. Whether you're dealing with unique regulatory requirements or trying to solve a particular business problem, you can now tailor your blockchain logic precisely.
And the best part? The development process is faster and more intuitive. You can iterate quickly, test thoroughly, and deploy with confidence. It's the kind of workflow we've always wanted but rarely got in the blockchain space.
We're not saying JS Hooks will solve every problem overnight. But it's a tangible step forward - a tool that brings blockchain development closer to the everyday reality of developers and businesses.
This isn't about grand visions or marketing hype. It's about making blockchain technology more accessible, more flexible, and more useful in the real world. And that's something we can all get behind.
While working on documentation and tooling, we'll start testing now on a live, consensus enabled JS Hooks testnet, instead of our local machines. The first Proof of Concepts we'll work on have a clear use case & are commercially viable products for the smart monitoring / service industry.
We're building for the real world now :)
🎉 Xahau just surpassed 100,000 activated accounts!
A huge milestone for the ecosystem and a warm welcome to everyone who’s joined us so far.
Here’s to the next 100,000 and beyond—this is just the beginning of something incredible.
🪝Understanding Hooks on Xahau: The Future of Smart Contracts
If you’ve been exploring the Xahau Network, you’ve probably come across the term "Hooks". But what exactly are they, and why are they so revolutionary for Xahau and the XRP Ledger ecosystem? Let’s break it down.
🪝What Are Hooks?
Hooks are lightweight, event-driven smart contracts that operate directly at the ledger level. Think of them as programmable logic attached to your account, allowing you to automate actions or enforce rules whenever specific transactions occur.
Unlike traditional smart contracts that exist as separate entities, Hooks live on accounts and respond to events like payments, trust line changes, or other ledger activities. They are designed to be fast, efficient, and secure, making them ideal for a wide range of use cases.
🪝Why Are Hooks Important?
Hooks add a new layer of programmability to Xahau, making it more than just a blockchain for payments. With Hooks, you can:
Automate Transactions: Set up rules like automatically saving a percentage of incoming payments or redirecting funds to another account.
Enforce Security: Create conditions that must be met for certain transactions to occur, like requiring multiple approvals for large withdrawals.
Enable Complex Use Cases: Build decentralised applications (DApps) and protocols directly on the ledger without relying on external infrastructure.
🪝With Hooks the Sky’s the limit!! $XAH @XahauNetwork
