But only a month or two ago people were telling me $QUBIC definitely won't be able to mine $XMR

A funny thing happens in nature

Sometimes an evolution happens that introduces a evolved species into a balanced ecosystem

That new species comes into the balanced ecosystem and rips through it, eating and killing everything in its path

$QUBIC looks to me like an evolved species entering a balanced crypto ecosystem and it is about to rip through it, eating everything in its path
