👁️⃤ Conspiracy Theory Time… First up, I’ve shared a video from Dan Peña. For those who don’t know, Peña started on Wallstreet and has been involved in various business ventures, including real estate and energy sectors. In the video Peña alleges he knows who started #Bitcoin (i.e. who is #SatoshiNakamoto ) and he suggests that if we knew who started it we wouldn’t be able to sleep at night and $BTC would drop to $0 instantly.

🤨 I don’t know if it’s just ageing dementia, or if he actually knows something, but my hunch is that if he really knew he’d tell the world because he’d want Bitcoin to fail. Bitcoin represents everything he doesn’t understand or has previously made money on and I think it’s killing him that “fake money” is making people billionaires except him!

🎬 Second on the list is this new documentary on Netflix called “Biggest Heist Ever” and it’s all about the #Bitfinex hack and the Bitcoin Bonny and Clyde story. I won’t give too much away as its worth watching, but I will say I’m disgusted how Bitfinex settled with customers who lost their 120,000 BTC. Because they settled they will now be keeping all the recovered Bitcoin once it is returned by the government with the customers just losing out on an appreciation.

⛰️ As some of you know, I lost BTC in the #MtGox hack and subsequent bankruptcy and although I was able to recover some of my stolen BTC, BCH and USD from the #MtGoxRepayments I had to wait 6 years and didn’t get it all. I lost all of this money and opportunity and when people talk about a victimless crime with Bitfinex it makes me mad.

😢 6 years of my life is gone and having to shut down all my rigs because everything was lost in the hack was not a victimless crime. Yes I got some of it back but I cannot begin to tell you what I went through over that six year period, emotionally and financially. I had young kids and my rigs were meant to create a future for us.

🤬 To see Bitfinex making billions of dollars on their customer’s assets stating “it was the fairest settlement in crypto hack history” is a cop-out. I would suggest the right thing to do is pay out clients their stolen Bitcoin minus what Bitfinex paid as an early settlement before the bitcoin was recovered. That would be the honourable and right thing to do. I’ll never use Bitfinex after their “rationalisation” when they were to blame for the loss of funds to begin with. To profit off the hack and not pass on this profit to the people’s who’s bitcoin it was to begin with is inexcusable.
