The fast-fashion giant was valued at nearly $100B just four years ago, meaning its valuation has fallen by almost 75%.

She says blockchain and smart contracts are becoming a bigger part of the financial system, meaning central banks need to move on-chain too.

Schnabel also warned that stablecoins should not replace central bank money, as central banks try to prevent private digital currencies from taking over their role.
JUST IN: 🇯🇵 Demand for Japan’s 2-year government bonds has dropped sharply, with the bid-to-cover ratio falling from 3.63x to 2.97x, its lowest level since September 2025.

Higher Japanese yields can strengthen the yen and force investors to unwind trades funded with cheap yen.
That could mean more volatility across global stocks and crypto.
JUST IN: 🇺🇸🇻🇪 President Trump says the US will begin filling its Strategic Petroleum Reserve with Venezuelan oil “very shortly.”
Trump says Venezuela is providing the oil as a “gift” and that the reserve will be “topped out.”
The US Strategic Petroleum Reserve is currently at its lowest level in more than 40 years after large oil releases to offset supply disruptions from the Strait of Hormuz.
BREAKING: 🇺🇸🇻🇪 Trump announces the US has reached what he calls the “biggest oil deal in world history” with Venezuela.
The agreement reportedly gives the US majority control over more than 65 billion barrels of Venezuelan oil reserves, more than doubling US proven oil reserves.
Trump says the deal will increase oil supply and substantially lower gas prices, with no cost to American taxpayers.
For context, Venezuela holds roughly 300 billion barrels of proven oil reserves, the largest reserves in the world.
The 65 billion barrels covered by this deal alone exceed the US’s current proven oil reserves.
However, bringing that oil to market will take time after decades of underinvestment and deteriorating infrastructure.
The deal comes as Middle East oil supplies remain disrupted and US strategic oil reserves sit near their lowest levels in more than 40 years.

JUST IN: The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) says stablecoins aren’t real money.
BIS chief Pablo Hernández de Cos wants banks to focus on tokenized deposits, keeping digital money inside the traditional banking system.

This comes as stablecoins continue to grow and potentially pull deposits away from traditional banks.

The Treasury is now considering using its nearly $1T cash reserve to fund even larger buybacks.
Just days later, Warsh delivered a hawkish speech at Jackson Hole and refused to rule out a September rate hike, sending yields higher again.
Two major US institutions, pushing financial conditions in opposite directions.
