🚀 #Alpha on Programmable Runes:
A new sub-protocol for Runes, dubbed Programmable Runes (name TBD), is in the works! It's being developed by a dedicated dev team (not Casey/Ordinals core, @rocktoshi21 , or @ZK_shark ) who started before Runes even launched.
📜 Key Points:
Specifications and Front End: They're focusing on building both the specs and a front end, but the timeline for the front end is further away.
Universal Access: These specs will be available to all Runes, not just Turbo "on" Runes.
🏃♂️ The Race is On:
Many teams are racing to finalize similar specs.
The BRC20 core protocol team has been working on this for a while. Their specs will be easier to implement since they're built directly into the BRC20 core protocol.
📅 Timeline:
Expect specs from both Programmable Runes and BRC20 teams by Bitcoin Nashville (end of July).
Usability will take longer: Dec/Jan+ for BRC20, even further for Runes.
🔮 Future Features:
Exact features are under wraps, but the goal is to enable Rune transactions to interact like Ethereum's EVM.
This means potential for DeFi-like activities on Runes & BRC20!
Stay tuned for more updates! 🌟
