Jensen Huang, CEO of Nvidia and he just made the case that coding is simply the typing of our generation.

His analogy is disarmingly simple.

For the last 50 years, society built an entire civilization around keyboards, hunched over screens, typing all day, we just accepted it as normal, as what it means to work in tech.

But 50 years before that, nobody did that and 50 years from now, people will look back at it the same way we look back at hand writing ledgers.

His point is that if we just didn't have to type anymore, think about everything else we could actually go do.

And at Nvidia, that future is already here, AI basically does most of their coding and the result isn't fewer engineers.

Nvidia is actively hiring 5,000 more, and its headcount has grown over 21% year over year as AI productivity compounds across teams.

And he went further at GTC 2026.

He said that a $500,000 engineer who only spends $5,000 on AI tokens in a year is someone he would "go ape over."

His mandate is that every elite engineer at Nvidia should be consuming at least $250,000 worth of tokens annually and the company is trying to spend $2 billion a year on tokens for its engineering team alone.

He announced at GTC that every Nvidia engineer would receive a token budget worth roughly 50% of their base salary, positioning AI compute as the fourth pillar of compensation alongside salary, equity, and bonus.

The logic underneath all of it is that coding was always just the interface.

The job was never writing syntax, it was defining what problem to solve but AI handles the interface now.

So the scarcest thing at the world's most valuable chip company isn't compute but rather human judgment about which problems are worth solving.

ICYMI: x402 is the @Coinbase developed open protocol for agentic payments, letting AI agents autonomously make payments on behalf of users.

This inclusion hints that:

- Claude could soon buy things for you automatically

- No approval needed for every transaction

- AI agents will be handling micro-payments in the background

- And all on a crypto-native open protocol
