I believe that Odious is in a conundrum: Lose his character and therefore the identity he is being building (and maybe some buyers) or having difficulties in making the jump from illustrator to artist.

@todayodious Is just exactly the opposite what I think. You are stuck to a character. That character simulates an identity. You are already in a category: the illustrator who makes a black devil in situations.

You don´t have to make the jump. What you do is already awsome, but IMHO, not art.

But I don't know: he is talented enough to solve this problem maybe in a third way I cannot think of.

It is his character who lives the ideas. Somehow that is also the difference between artists and illustrators. While illustrators give a life and experiences to a character. Artists live their work in their own flesh.

An illustrator tries to satisfy the needs of a client or the public. An artist is a Nietzschean subject who creates his own value system and draws the public into him. Not the other way around.

Odious is an illustrator with an artist potential. Some of his last works are touching (like this one), his compositions are brilliant, but his identity still resides in a character, not in an idea.

I chose Odious as a representative of a phenomenon that I've seen often happens in cryptoart: the confusion between artists and illustrators. But at the same time as one that I see with the potential to make the jump.
