What is fih?

The slang term "Fih" is stupidly simple, and that's why TikTok users seem to love it so much.

It's also the reason why shirts reading, "Fih is calling," have been selling like hot cakes.

The origin of the word "Fih" is a story layered in irony, dating back to 2023, when meme creators began using the Papyrus font instead of Impact.

Then, the slang suffix "-ih" emerged, following in the footsteps of "-ahh." Thus, the road to "Fih" was paved, and it's been a long-winding path since then that no one back in 2023 could have predicted.

Simply, "fih" is a shortening of the word "fish," employing an AAVE phonetic technique of ending words with a soft "H" sound.

"Ahh" in the term "Goofy Ahh" is a solid precursor example that partly explains how and when the larger internet co-opted it.

"Fih" is largely inspired by the slang term "dih," which is a humorous shortening of a much more lewd word.
