President Trump now acknowledging to aides, per the Wall Street Journal, that he won’t/can’t get Iran to abandon its nuclear weapons efforts and the best he can hope for is getting the Straits of Hormuz opened to shipping with no Iranian claims of territorial control or transit fees.

The Iranians have him on a yo-yo string and will continue to stand by maximalist demands.

Really quite amazing to spend $38 billion in Pentagon resources plus another $100 billion in costs to the U.S. economy, leave the U.S. military with dangerously depleted weapons stockpiles and our key allies in the region thinking we’re unreliable yahoos, and have absolutely zero to show for it.

He should have declared victory back in May and brought everyone home. It would have been humiliating but now Iran is driving events. The depth of this historic incompetence will have a generational impact that will cost lives, destroy our economy even further, and spread this war in the region for years to come. The hubris of criminal American President whose legacy will live in infamy.

He shows up.

He shows up to Mass every week, just like he did yesterday. He shows up for his family. And he still shows up for the country he has spent his entire life serving.

I’ve admired this man for decades for exactly that reason.

If there is one person in public service I would want my son to emulate when he grows up, it’s @JoeBiden.

He puts other people first. He loves this country deeply. And at his core, he is just an insanely good and decent man.

I’m incredibly grateful that life has given me opportunities over the years to spend time with him and see the man up close in a way most people never get to.

And unlike most politicians, there really isn’t a public Joe Biden and a private Joe Biden.

He’s just Joe.

The same guy whether the cameras are on or not.

And I don’t give a shit what anyone says. Joe Biden will always be my favorite president. I believe history is going to be very, very good to him in the years ahead.

And he deserves it.
