Actor Jon Cypher passed suddenly on August 3 at his home in Central Point, Oregon, with his wife of 40 years, Carol Rosin, by his side. He will be laid to rest beneath tall trees overlooking a meadow at The Forest Conservation Burial Ground, honoring his wish to return to nature in a biodegradable shroud.

Jon was known for roles including Chief Daniels on Hill Street Blues, General Craig on Major Dad, and Prince Charming in the original Cinderella with Julie Andrews. His career included 12 Broadway shows—among them Man of La Mancha, 1776, and Evita—films, hundreds of guest roles, and opera sung in four languages.

He hosted the 2001 Disclosure Project National Press Club event and advocated for truth, peace, and the prevention of weapons in space. Jon was a brilliant, funny, deeply loving man whose resting place will be open to visitors.
