@CinnamonMelody2 @bikinginorange @MaineDOT1 The train would also require replacing the swing bridge near the (former) baked bean factory which seems prohibitively expensive. Using the active rail line does not require replacing a fairly long bridge span.
@BrianBlakeCD2 @murphelaw Me riding my bike - pausing and then passing through an intersection is not a hazard to anybody else - and evidence shows it is safer for me. I will continue to do this to keep myself safe.
@jamesecradockjr I've been biking to work every day this winter and its a lot more pleasant than people imagine. Suggestions I agree on from that article 1. you need studded tires to get by in Maine and 2- you need to wear ski goggles if the temp goes below 20
@randybillings To pretend that full time councilors that are making 70k don't have more capacity to manage a city manager shows a deep misunderstanding of how government and oversight works.
@randybillings Respectfully - I am not missing the point. Clearly the council has the power to fire the city manager. However, councilors in Portland have other full time jobs and serve in a part time capacity - they don't necessarily have the capacity to effectively manage a city manager.
@randybillings City council members in Clearwater make over 50k a year. In Portland they make less than 7k. There is no way you can compare the power of a full time councilor making 50k to the power of our part time councilors making less than 7k.
@NewsKrister@CarolineLosneck @obobME They should just move into the edge of Deering oaks park so it is fully separated from the road and make it a two way bike specific path
@bikinginorange @obobME This is what it looks like now. Better winter maintenance thing @CityPortland could to improve cycling infrastructure in the city.
The RAM 1500—a truck designed, apparently, to deliver maximum blunt force trauma to a pedestrian's head or rib cage—has a 5-Star Federal Safety Rating.
@JLevinePWM@mtrem2 @tonyorazietti @bikinginorange @CarolineLosneck and with Denny's gone there is an opportunity to redevelop a pretty large piece of property in that area
