My PhD project in general covers mosquitoes and biting midges. I look at the prefered temperatures they want to live in. Knowing this i might be possible to see if deseases that they transmit spreads to regions we do not expect them to be in.

Our group is also preparing on using a #Noldus camera system to observe #Mosquotoes and #BitingMidges in the lab and evaluate their #ThermalPreference. I hope the IR light works with the new filter. 🤞

Plans for the near future is #Fieldwork in #Thurauen, #Braunwald, #Hasliberg and #Zuerich. We are planing on collecting mosquitoes and biting midges. Using CDC traps, LED traps, resting boxes and oviposition cups.

@gisela_kopp @IMPRS_OrgBio @unikonstanz I would be interested in a PhD in Social Systems. I will be done in March 2020 with my masters in Biology at the University of Zürich. Would this be a possibility? If yes could I get some more information about the procedures etc.
