AMSAT CubeSatSim is a low-cost functional satellite model with solar panels, battery, UHF radio telemetry, 3D printed frame, Pi Zero, open source, #CubeSatSim
@VeteranInfosec @AMSAT Sorry about that. International shipping is expensive and requires paperwork and a visit to the post office. One way is to have a friend in the USA receive it and forward it. Another is to get the PCB fabricated, e.g. just Main board https://t.co/knovIhETTv
A small number of #CubeSatSim Lites which include the Pi Zero are now available on the AMSAT Store https://t.co/38IGGpFikh Shipping to only USA addresses.
Found some time to try the CubesatSim lite board from @AMSAT very impressed will be a great tool for demos.
Think running it on a pi4 with 8gb of ram is probably overkill 🤣
@alanbjohnston @Amsat_hb Looking forward to displaying the “loaner”CubeSatSim to a group of hams, STEM and college students at our local Field Day event this weekend! de WB4NCT and KS0S, Athens, Alabama (near Huntsville and US Space and Rocket Center)
We're guest at the booth of @USKA_CH at the #hamradio 2022 in Friedrichshafen.
We will introduce the @AMSAT@CubeSatSim and other interresting stuff from the #amsat world. See you soon - in Person 📡🛰️

Great FSK decoding with the @CubeSatSim Lite tonight! Decoded some FSK telemetry using a basic RTL-SDR and FoxTelem. Now if I could get it working through SDR#!
Tonight with the @CubeSatSim Lite I decoded SSTV in Windows, using MMSSTV, SDR# and VB-Audio Cable! Next up SSTV in Linux, then a different mode! #CubeSatSim
SSTV transmitting with the #CubeSatSim is a lot of fun, especially if you add a Pi Camera so it takes pictures and transmits them! #hamradio#AMSAT#RaspberryPi
The #CubeSatSim Lite is working great! Started off switching to SSTV mode, looking at it on the SDR in Windows, then decoding the SSTV on an iPad and an Android! @CubeSatSim#amsat Next up, SSTV on Windows & Linux!
Good news! If you use sockets for the INA219 current/voltage sensor boards, the Blue ones fit! The Blue ones are cheaper and easier to find than the Purple ones we have been using.
To get 8, you could buy these:

@TommyOwens That is very true. And when you do order them, there is a high failure rate. It is possible to get by using only 3: battery, bus, and +X solar panel. Im also looking at the blue INA219 boards - I’ll post something on this later in the week.
There is also a new Raspberry Pi disk image with the v1.2 software that is 1/2 size of previous (1.2G)

This new alias will also download the latest v1.x image.
Recommend #balenaEtcher so you can write it from the URL without downloading

New v1.2 software release for the #CubeSatSim project!
This release fixes an issue with the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W that can cause an auto shutdown if battery isn’t fully charged. No change for other hardware
