Baseball is a funny game...
Lardis has already played NHL games and will into the future.
Pridham (6'2") is tied for 2nd in goals in the OHL.
Spellacy's (6'3") speed and physicality are NHL quality.
Mustard's speed and playmaking is getting hype in the NCAA.
Behm (6'2") is 5th in points in the WHL.
Try not to be too disappointed if players like Jason Dickinson or Connor Murphy only bring back 3rd round picks in trades. The #Blackhawks have done extremely well in the 3rd lately.

Jack Pridham - '24
AJ Spellacy - '24
John Mustard - '24
Nathan Behm - '25
What is it with John Buccigross and his inability to pronounce Connor Bedard's name? Ever since Bedard has entered the league, Bucci has been calling him Berard about 40% of the time.
Someone must have told him, and yet it keeps happening. What an odd brain block to have. Lol.
I keep hearing that the #Cubs can "afford" a top tier hitter (Bregman) or pitcher (King, et al) but can't afford both?
Why not? Is the CBT threshold a moat with alligators in it? Now is the time Jed has been waiting for. You can easily reset under the limit next season.
@Cubies1986 I agree with you. In general, they shouldn't. But when your roster is close to competing to win a WS, it is wise to go for it. And Suarez is a fairly safe bet.
The time is now. One big bat. One TOR pitcher and one surefire closer. CBT be damned for a change.
Let's go!
Will the #Cubs EVER go above the CBT threshold?
They were unwilling to beat 3/45 for Suarez? I mean maybe Suarez simply didn't want to play in Chicago, but if not, it seems like a reasonable salary and length.
He fills a need on the roster. What are they waiting for?
The Chicago Bears have been winning ugly. That's okay. It's football. You can debate how lucky their 6-3 record is, but their next 4 games could end that debate.
@ MIN
vs. PIT
@ PHI
@ GB
If they go 0-4 or 1-3, they've been lucky. 2-2, the debate goes on. 3-1, they're for real.
Welp, it's official. The Chicago Bears are ahead of the Green Bay Packers in the standings and are tied for 1st place with the Lions at 6-3 (though are technically in 2nd place due to the current state of the tiebreaker).
I didn't think I would be writing that this season.
Caleb Williams is 23 years old.
Connor Bedard is 20 years old.
Josh Giddey is 23 years old.
Pete Crow-Armstrong is 23 years old.
It's a new era in Chicago sports and the future is bright.
For the 1st time in a long time, the #Blackhawks have legit prospects at every position.
C/W - Frondell, Kantserov, Moore, Lardis, Vanacker, Nestrasil, Boisvert and others.
D - Korchinski, Del Mastro, Allen
G - Commesso, Gajan and others.
The 2026 draft can truly be BPA.
Last season, #Blackhawks prospect Nick Lardis opened a lot eyes when he scored 71 goals for the Brantford Bulldogs (OHL). Fellow Hawk prospect Marek Vanacker was his teammate and scored 24 of his own.
This season, thru 13 Brantford games, Vanacker is on pace to score... 71 goals
I'm a prospect nerd. I love tracking prospects in baseball and hockey as they come up the ranks. For that reason, I enjoy rebuilds more than the average fan. I don't mind all the losses because the draft picks are better.
If the Hawks keep winning, their draft slot will fall...
Who knows, the off season may come and Necas might elect to stay in Colorado or he has eyes on another franchise. But, if by continuing to win, the Hawks can attract him to Chicago, I think he would make a perfect addition to the roster.
