@EmilyMo50387664@theelords I agree! I think that it is something that should be used at the beginning of the project. Students should then comprehend the text which will hopefully lead to a valuable classroom discussion!
'The Mess That We Made' is an amazing picture book by @theelords that explores the environmental impact of pollution in our ocean! I am sure that it will inspire your students to take action! #uonteach#Educ4750
Thank you for sharing this!
This app is a great way to incorporate ICT into this project! Everyone needs to do as much as they can to make a difference and stop the pollution in our ocean! #uonteach#Educ4750#LifeBelowWater
This amazing App allows students to record and identify the types on litter they find and is enter red into a database in a fight to keep our oceans pollution free. Use this app in the classroom! #UonTeach#Educ4750#litter#ICT#saveoursealife
I am making it an end of project goal for my students to create an art project using the recyclable rubbish that we collect from our local beach. This is an easy way to incorporate the KLA visual arts and the cross-curriculum priority of sustainability.. #uonteach#Educ4750
Awesome idea! This poster could be displayed in both the classroom and the community to motivate everyone to make a difference!
An activity like this encourages student collaboration and critical/creative thinking to help find a solution to such an important issue! #UoNTeach
#WWF states the alarming facts of #plasticpollution. How can we as teachers, help raise awareness of just how long plastic takes to decompose?
Would it be beneficial for students to create solutions for the hardest to break down plastics? #Educ4750#SDG14
Look at these students taking action!
I am going to show my class this in the hope of inspiring them and allowing them to take away the important message the 'everyone can make a difference'.
This is something to be very proud of!
#UoNTeach#Educ4750
Great idea @EmilyMo50387664 ! This poster could be displayed in the classroom and around the school! Students could even design their own and take them home to display in their home! If everyone does their part we will make a difference! #UoNTeach#Educ4750
10 ways to help our oceans! This could be used as a poster within the classroom and community to help raise awareness about the pollution in our ocean #UoNTeach#Educ4750#SDG14
@BoyceMadeleine Another great idea is to instil the benefits of Keep Cups to students. One Keep Cup last years rather than thousands of takeaway cups use per year.
@BoyceMadeleine I was thinking of implementing these types of water bottles to leave in the classroom for my students so they all have access to one. Hopefully this will reduce students bring single-use plastic water bottles to school!
@BoyceMadeleine A great thing to introduce into the classroom of tomorrowโs leaders! Starting these habits young will make the greatest difference to the ocean!
Plastic is the most common form of pollution found in the ocean.
At least 8 million tons of plastic enter our oceans each year.
There is more microplastic in the ocean than there are stars in the Milky Way.
Scary facts! Are you interested in helping?
#UoNTeach#Educ4750
@BoyceMadeleine You are totally right! I am tossing up between having students create a sustainable artwork at the end of the project or create their own innovative/creative sustainable design!
Thank you for sharing! This would be a great place to display the artwork that my students create at the end of their project! A great goal for students to work towards! #UoNTeach#Educ4750#SDG14
Protecting our life below water is a goal that is extremely important to my classroom. These are some simple steps that you can take to make a difference! Our oceans will be thanking you!
#UoNTeach#Educ4750#SDG14
@BoyceMadeleine I am going to be focusing on a range of different aspects:
-@Take3fortheSea spokesperson
-Whole community beach clean up
-ICT resources, such as, iPad apps
-Group collaboration where possible
-End up project goal, e.g. art project made out of recyclable items
@BoyceMadeleine I think that TED Talks are so inspiring! You could even organise for this video to be played at an assembly to get the whole school educated on this important issue!
@BoyceMadeleine I checked out this resource after you commented on my post! Such an awesome idea and I canโt wait to do a lesson with my class on this!
