Culpeper PD sends its condolences & prayers to @CCPDVa & Orange County Sheriff's Office. On 5/31/26, CCPD K9 Knight was killed in the line of duty when he & two officers were shot responding to a domestic shooting. K9 Knight is survived by his handler, Cpl. John Walsh, & family.
On 6/3/26, OCSO K9 Blek passed away while on duty from natural causes. K9 Blek is survived by his handler, Sgt. J. Neal, & family.
Both K9s served their handlers, agencies, & communities with unwavering courage, determination, & dedication. They wore the same badge as their human partners, sacrificed for their communities, & served with honor. K9s hold a special place in every agency, & every loss hurts. Please keep their handlers, families, & coworkers in your thoughts & prayers.

On 5/30/26 CPD officers responded to 302 E Davis St to assist almost a dozen Fire & EMS companies for a building fire. This large-scale incident lasted almost 10 hours & required additional support from non-first responder organizations & resources. The CPD Drone Team provided live aerial overviews so that Fire Command could best direct resources & operations. Complicating the incident was the presence of active railroad train tracks directly behind the building.
Thankfully, no people were injured. Please keep those affected by the fire in your thoughts & prayers.
CPD is proud to work alongside our fellow first responder agencies. We also thank @VSPPIO, Culpeper Public Works and Light & Power, Culpeper County Building Inspector, The Bridge Community Church, & @nscorp & @Amtrak for their assistance.
