#Iran’s exiled Crown Prince @PahlaviReza issued the following statement today on the U.S.-Iran hostage deal that would see the Islamic Republic gain access to $6 billion in funds frozen in South Korea in exchange for five American hostages:

“Unfortunately, the billions of dollars that the Biden administration will reportedly release to the regime as ransom for five hostages will not reduce the suffering of my countrymen.

This windfall will serve to finance the regime's criminal activities and further incentivize its hostage taking and blackmailing just as previous ransom payments have. The fact that this financial lifeline is being offered on the eve of the anniversary of the murder of #MahsaAmini and hundreds of other brave Iranians is an added, stinging insult.”

This is Tabasom Jamalpour, a 20-year-old Iranian actress, standing bravely in front of a religious place in Tehran. She was arrested weeks ago for this photo, but was temporarily released yesterday. In prison, she was forced to endure sexual abuse at the hands of regime agents. It's time to stand up against this systemic abuse against women by the Islamic republic that has persisted for over forty years.
